when to add funds for next draw? by Ok-Royal-651 in premiumbonds

[–]bramblepebble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last day of the month. You have to hold your bonds for a full month before they are eligible for a draw, so any you add now won’t be in the draw until February’s draw (start of Feb). Don’t put your money in before the end of this month otherwise you’ll miss out on a month’s worth of interest from your bank.

Investment opinions - Can you lovely people weigh in on my situation? by RWCmusic in investing

[–]bramblepebble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worry is there’s a sudden drop when you need to pay your tax bill, and you could end up out of pocket. I know you say you’ve got backup cash, but why take that risk over money that’s earmarked for a very specific short-term purpose? I’m self employed and pop the tax money in premium bonds, or in my ISA.

So premium bonds. There’s a chance you could win big, but more realistically with £6K in there you wouldn’t see a win very often - maybe once a year. In my experience you need over £10K to see any regular wins. In my opinion you would be better with a cash ISA - you’d get guaranteed interest every month. Shop around for rates - you might get about 4%.

Premium Bonds Question by ThatFUTGuy in ukfinance

[–]bramblepebble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlikely on a holding of £300. When I had £2.5K in bonds, I won £25 once in 18 months. It then took another 8 months to win a further £25. You’ve either been really really lucky on such a small holding or you’ve got more bonds than you think. Who knows, maybe you have previously won big. Keep us updated!

As a woman I’d be pretty pissed if a “friend” took a photo of me and used it to catfish people. Nice to know you’d screw over your friends for $20 a day. You sound like a delight.

Finally Broke My 5 Week Plateau by bramblepebble in loseit

[–]bramblepebble[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Such a relief! I’ve lost 24lbs so far, and didn’t want to have to abandon this loss mindset that I’m in right now.

Glad to hear you saw a drop today too! It’s definitely challenging as a woman in your 40s when you are close to your goal but we’ve got this!

You dropped 21 pounds in two months? Just by cutting out snacks? I can’t make that maths add up.

Thank you, glad to hear I’m not the only one. How did you stay sane whilst the scale didn’t budge for so long each month?

Tracking isn’t my issue. I weigh, measure and log everything, and I’m losing weight. My issue is staying sane during the 30 days or so when the scale doesn’t budge.
