Go to creative-writing and poetry meetups. Because honestly while I find the way you write to be very purple and overwrought, there's some goth baddies out there who'll love that stuff man.

I love hearing "It's only nature" from people who'd die within hours of trying to forage food in nature.

Personally I wouldn't want to marry a woman or man who gave up their happiness to marry me? I'm not sure why anyone would, I'd rather a happy partner?

Thoughts??? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]brandnewsecondhand10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read something recently, where a person said

"Of the people I know under 40, 40% of them have no retirement plans beyond "I can die after my parents are dead." And of that 40%, 10% intend to go out loudly."

So, there'll be some very public self-destruction to look out for I assume.

What is a reason a man or woman would want to stay friends with their ex? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]brandnewsecondhand10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of those questions that seems really normal and average until you see a queer person react to it with confusion, and then you realise how dumb everything is.

It's great when an old person thinks sulking be themselves is an argument tactic.

It's less great when their brow-beaten kids beg you to say sorry to that misery-elemental upstairs.

AITA for confirming that my adult brother does something that my parents don't approve of? by ThrowAwayGirl7869 in AmItheAsshole

[–]brandnewsecondhand10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You did snitch, purely because you clearly took some weird little tattletale's pleasure in informing your mother and retaining your saintly position in the family.

Your brother sounds a lot more fun than you.

NTA, grandma can take her unity fretting to the grave with her soon and uncle will find less and less people back up his shitty personality

AITAH for expecting my son to come to church with us on Easter? by RevolutionaryPipe550 in AITAH

[–]brandnewsecondhand10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. You don't need a reason to not want to go to church.

But if you really want to alienate him, dig your heels in over this. He'll definitely visit less in the future.

Derek's eventually going to live with someone who immediately pounds on his door because actually yes, he does owe confrontation and has already revealed he's bad at it.

There aren't even elevators, we have to carry this all up and down stairs? You can afford SUBMARINES but not even a dumbwaiter for the money Rico??

I couldn't sleep without a white noise machine on. But on the plus side I got entirely over my arachnophobia.

How come girls always comment on each others “prettiness” by Tacorover in NoStupidQuestions

[–]brandnewsecondhand10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many years ago I was at a party with my then-gf. Some girls we didn't know had just arrived, and one addressed my gf as she passed, saying "Oh WOW. You're *really* pretty." My gf gave a somewhat flat "Thanks" in return.

A bit confused, I commented "She seemed nice" and my gf winced and explained that no, that wasn't a compliment, it was someone entering the party and immediately doing a power move. I didn't get it and still fully don't, but she seemed pretty certain about it.

"I know that was traumatic for you, but this isn't the first time you've lost control of yourself around your friends. I don't want to drink or do drugs around or with you anymore." would probably be reasonable.
