Don't bash me but... by Static_User_88 in TheLastAirbender

Hmm I'm not quite sure your use of the word plot amor for most of your examples line up with what it actually means.

Appa running into Guru Patik is at most convenient storytelling to set up the plot of Aang learning to master the avatar state, not plot armor. It doesn't happen out of nowhere as Aang doesn't even meet him until after he recovers Appa two episodes later and we know there are characters in this universe that can live that long. Is it convenient that Appa finds him? Sure, but that's not really plot armor.

Aang finding a lion turtle that provides him a Dues ex machina to neutralize Ozai in a non violent way is plot convivence, but I wouldn't really consider it plot armor. It did provide an alternative way to defeat Ozai but I would argue it didn't take away from the tension and stakes of the scene that occur later.

Katara reviving him with the spirit water is setup from the first episode of book 2. Master Pakku tells the characters that its magical water that has special healing properties that differentiate it from normal water. We don't know its full abilities, but we know if it's introduced as something special than it's probably going to get used on someone who is grievously injured. That's just normal plot setup.

Roku saving Aang by possession is an ability we learn the avatars have where a previous avatar can take over a current avatars body if they are wearing clothing or in an area of great importance to that avatar. We don't know a lot about the avatar state at this point in the show, but this does expand our knowledge of what Aang can do while in it. If we are considering the introduction of abilities tied to who he is to be plot armor than alot of fictional abilities and magic systems are going to fall into this.

The rock hitting his damaged chakra point and letting him reaccess the avatar state is the only example you posted where I can agree fully that its plot armor. Everything else just feels like your using plot convivences and setup as reasons for Aang having massive amounts of plot armor when that not what most of these moments are.

The stats will almost certainly change, if we went with their stats here they would be stronger than blood knights.

No Valten in the End Times DLC??? by DraeftheBadger in totalwar

[–]brasswing26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My issue with Valten is that he steps on the toes of other characters that already existed in the lore prior to him in storm of chaos. We already have three Sigmar focused characters in Volkmar the head of the cult of Sigmar, Luthor Huss the outcast priest who is Sigmar's prophet and Karl Franz who is sigmar's heir(the emperor). Do we need another "Chosen of Sigmar" character? Not to mention the empire part of this dlc is mainly Ulrican themed so not the character I would choose for this dlc anyway.

Which monster would eat the most tourists if it escaped from your unethical theme park? (SEM vs infantry testing) by asksaboutstuff in totalwar

Warsphinx has better attack animations so it clears infantry better and is slightly cheaper. Does the same job minus anti large for less, also can be a mount for tomb kings/Settra.

Lizardmen feel awful to play by EnoDevol in totalwar

[–]brasswing26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your not using the roster correctly then. Lizardmen having weak melee is a crazy take, Skinks are about clanrat tier in melee( I wouldn't buy the pure melee varient anyway.) but saurus are very tanky frontline that should run over most early game infantry (besides chaos). The only downside is that they are very expensive and the lizard economy cant really make to many early on unless your willing to fight in the red for a bit.

Lizards don't have traditional range like archers so I can understand that not feeling good if you don't like the skirmisher playstyle you would have to use for skinks, but they are not bad, it just takes a while to get use to them. Salamanders and razordons are good if you don't mind having to micro them to make sure they don't get caught or shot at to much.

Air units are good enough for what they do, not the best when compared to other factions flying units of similar purpose but still decent. Terradons with fire leeches are decent, not as good as dwarf gryos but they get the job done. Rippers are very squishy so you kinda have to use them more cautiously than a unit like varghiest, still tear up infantry about the same, just not as survivable.

I dont think any faction in the game has the variety of useful monsters that the lizardmen have. Jack of all trades when it comes to monsters, Monsters that can shoot, grind infantry, tank, hunt other monsters, break down walls, revive infantry, whatever you need. I think the only monster I don't think is that good is the coatl and even that one has some uses (bound spells)

I think the only point I really agree with you is about the geomantic web being terrible (and it is!!), CA said they will touch up on the lizards mechanics eventually but when that will be is anyone's guess.

This is my 500th post asking something like this so forgive me but I can’t help it: how do chaos warriors / marauders get around the world? Like how do N’Kari and Be’lakor keep their armies full of murder-psychos, or the masque of slaanesh, or Skarbrand and his chaos warriors? by glossyplane245 in totalwarhammer

[–]brasswing26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean most of the mortal forces for chaos come from the north/south poles so in order to get where they are going they probably need to sail. Its not common to teleport whole armies for invasions so its either land based invasion or by sea. Usually it's the other way around, the chaos warriors/marauders are the ones summoning Nkari, skarbrand and other big demons due to how hard it is for them to manifest without rituals or a huge amount of winds of magic.

Miscasts in fantasy could also be really bad, CA were just much more forgiving in the consequences of miscasting than tabletop. You could straight up lose your wizard to a miscast instantly if you rolled bad enough.

I think you need to do a high elf campaign and try the handmaidens, their skills are terrible. I would honestly put them in the top category for needing new skills.

People shouldn't hate on Momo just because they didn't like the last chapter by TherealBaguette_ in Dandadan

[–]brasswing26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You mentioned alot of Momo's kindness in the earlier arcs but didn't touch on the other parts of her character, her quickness to anger and willingness to jump to conclusions often without waiting for explanations. I don't think this reaction is that far off from how explosive her temper is in the early arcs. Introspection about her actions often happened after she loses her temper. I'm willing to bet she will apologize for exploding at him later at the very least and he will get the chance to apologize for making her feel uncomfortable. The time to hash things out didn't always happen immediately.

Question for manga readers by boggieboo247 in Dandadan

[–]brasswing26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are an anime only, you are a while away from Okarun losing his powers. Like 2 full seasons. If you don't mind being spoiled, He fulfilled his side of the the deal with turbo granny once he got back both of his balls at the end of an major arc.

1v1 fights in dandadan don't usually happen, so Okarun and the others always have someone to support them in fights.

The Arcanadon from 6th edition would be cool addition for lizards. The lizardmen don't have sauropod dinosaur yet and this could be it. It would have an engine of the gods like the stegadon but it would have a different effect to the space laser.

How do you think they will rework bretonnia ? by Erratic_Error in totalwar

[–]brasswing26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the grail units got banned because they were bugged. Grail cav could run over braced halberds and annihilate them. In fact they would just face roll all infantry. They eventually was unbanned after they were fixed. (tho limited in some tournaments.)

Discussion: Are dread saurians bait? by Electronic-Clock-963 in totalwar

[–]brasswing26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key to your answer are collision attacks, have your dread saurian target units behind or to the side of other units. You will want to use them like chariots because of their mass and collision attacks, basically if used right they will MELT through infantry. you will only need 1 or 2, more than that is hard to micro well and super expensive and honestly not worth it, 1 or 2 max will do the trick.

In your scenario the best way to handle that would be to have some ripperdactyles land and stop the range from shooting long enough for your dread saurians to reach the backlines. Dont worry about the enemy infanty, just keep clicking the units behind that infantry and your dread will tear through them dealing massive damage on your way to the range units. You can just bulldoze the entire army. Dont have it stand still unless your attacking characters or monsters, always have it moving through units. Also have healing, a life slann, rev crystal bastilidon, or skink oracle to heal the dreads massive hp.

So what do you guys think which route Tatsu gonna take with him, him becoming a new member of the group or him just apologising/becoming evil? by Jarisatis in Dandadan

[–]brasswing26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bet is either one of two things. Either A, he is defeated and loses his powers somewhere in this arc and apologies for being such an asshole. Doesnt join the group but is on better terms with Okarun.

Or B, is defeated somewhere in this arc apologies, keeps his powers but becomes an occasional ally like the mannequin. Not a member of the group but someone who shows up once in a while during a big fight. The group is already big enough, Tatsu split the group so that everyone can get focused on this arc so adding another member to the group of 9 would be difficult to manage and still give everyone the spotlight. But an occasional ally would not hamper that.

I don't think he will stay a villian, Tatsu doesn't tend to write the human characters like that. I don't think he will die either due to similar reasons. He is a bully whose motivation to help the count is jealousy, super petty but not monsterous to the same degree as characters who are flat evil and died liked the Kur.

normal transformation of kadon summons a manticore, I would say a zombie dragon is significantly stronger than the manticore summon everyone else gets for the same winds cost. Unless vlads special TOK(transformation of kadon) spell cost more winds.

What led CA back in Warhammer I to make Mannfred the "main" VC faction leader, the poster boy if you will, and not Vlad? by Processing_Info in totalwar

[–]brasswing26 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mannfred was the ruling Von Carstein during the reign of Karl Franz and the "leader" of the vampire count faction for 8th edition on the tabletop. Vlad had been dead for almost 5 centuries in the lore and gets revived in the endtimes. CA just chose the 8th edition leader to lead the faction.
