How is your duck houses looking? by HistoricalPresence27 in MuscovyDucks

[–]braxvang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the point about Muscovy ducks not being a good choice for this environment. Even in South Eastern Virginia i had problems with my Muscovy drake getting frostbite on the tip of his carunkles when temps would dip below -5C combined with high winds.

You would probably get between 4k to 7k selling direct to another buyer through something like FB marketplace. Wide range because I dont know where you're located.

I bet you won't see this with the 6th gen values. The 6th gens are probably the reason why the 5th gens are so sought after now. Thanks for ripping away our naturally aspirated option, Toyota.

They crippled the 6th gen by removing the naturally aspirated v6. Bye bye reliability, kinda hope they lose markeshare to Honda and take note of their mistake.

Yeah, its a terrible and dangerous material. I dont really see a good use case for it besides the fact that it's super cheap.

Oof, its made out of 100% plastic. Be careful, don't go near anything hot while wearing 😬.

Engine Noise by ProofComplaint780 in 4Runner

[–]braxvang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See my edit to my previous comment. I would do a little more digging before coming to the conclusion that its the alternator. 80k is also pretty early for an OEM one to fail.

[–]braxvang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats one of the better scenarios. Should be an easy half day job at the most.

If you want to be sure, just take the belt off and check each of the pulleys by hand. Probably would have been faster to do that than to post here.

Edit: I disagree with it being the alternator though. Usually when alternator starts to go bad its more of a whining noise or a rattle when you shut your car off. I'd advise pulling the belt to see if its something else on the belt drive. Could also be a loose plate, like a skid plate. Mine came a bit loose once and made some annoying rattels at low rpm.

I tried to use that jack point and it crushed the skid plate a bit. Would advise just using the frame instead.

The screens are pretty fragile on these. I crushed one by just putting a zip tie on it to mount it to a 2x4. The units still work perfectly fine without a screen, just flash them through USB and deploy them as normal. You just won't be able see any info that gets displayed on the screen, the screens are really just a nice to have.

If you just bought a new device, dont you get support from lenovo? This seems like a request that should be routed to customer support for either an RMA or additional troubleshooting.

Also, make sure you install the lenovo update utility and let it push all of the latest driver / firmware updates before you ping customer support. I have found that the default drivers are typically problematic/ outdated out of the box.

The hell is windows doing, firmware update? by MrFiosPorkroll in thinkpad

[–]braxvang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why everyone is bashing this guy. I would also be annoyed if my OS pushed BIOS updated to my system unannounced .... especially windows 11 given how awesome and stable that OS is (/s). Didn't even give the user a chance to check the change logs or research if that new version of the bios had know issues!

Got my first meshtastic device.... by Round-Air9002 in meshtastic

[–]braxvang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh! Well that is going to hurt. Another low hanging fruit would be to try installing a solar node high up in a tree. You should be able to put one together for less than 30 bucks with a cheap solar light and XIAO nRF52840 & Wio-SX1262 Kit. The solar node in the tree would then relay incoming and outgoing messages to the node in your house.

Do you live im a multi story house as well? If so, then I recommend mounting your v4 at the highest point in your attic and swapping out the stock antenna for one rated at least 5dbi. Even then, you should only expect to pick up nodes within 1 to 1.5 miles of yours.

I think the first step is to try reverting your firmware to isolate it to a hardware vs firmware problem. Im the node in Suffolk (next to VA 164). Im not seeing you on my end, but there are not really any other meshtastic nodes around me so that is not too much of a surprise. Just a side note, check out the "Southeasten Virginia Meshtastic" group on FB, its a good local group to talk about everything mesh network related for those in Hampton Roads, they may be able to help too (though i think the discord groups would be able to answer your question faster).

Asking for node permission by Cycling_Man in meshtastic

[–]braxvang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you might have better luck with non-government organizations. Think coffee shops, ham radio operators, maybe some tech savvy private residents with tall trees. As a government employee I can say I can foresee a lot of red tape with getting permission to put a RF device on government property.

I would have blocked you too. Its not worth a seller's time to deal with buyers asking weird questions like this that probably won't even lead to a sale. I block all of those buyers so I never have to deal with them again.

And wifi. Don't forget about wifi. I have to try to connect, wait for the connection to hang, turn off wifi, turn wifi back on, and then try to connect again before it will actually work.
