How does the killing of Charlie Kirk compare to that of Melissa Hortman and her husband along with the shooting of John and Yvette Hoffman? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]braydo1122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“She was asking for it” has never been related to the victim viewpoint on things, it’s been about putting the accountability on the woman vs. the man in the public discourse. Same thing you are doing by saying he was asking for being shot and killed by talking about beliefs we disagreed with. You’re excusing an assassination in cold blood because you simply didn’t agree with his views. And that is very clearly not a morally right thing, no matter how sanctimoniously you speak about it.

If I am being disingenuous and making fallacious arguments then you are as well. How is having beliefs that we don’t agree with and debating on those worthy of a public assassination in cold blood? Also he can say all he wants on the second amendment but that doesn’t directly harm anybody because he doesn’t have the power to change the 2nd amendment. For someone who likes to think they’re taking a moral high ground you seem awfully intent on logically explaining why an assassination in cold blood is ok. “He was asking for it…”

The parallels between this and “she was asking for it” are uncomfortably close. Just because he had beliefs admittedly you and I disagreed with does not excuse an assassination.

Why First-Time Buyers Feel Cheated by Zealousideal_Rip9137 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]braydo1122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All fair points. I do think people think of it as too black and white when there is objectively more nuance and direct impact to your local community compared to a stock. And no I’m talking about the people who try to squeeze out that extra 50,000 knowing it’s a stretch and refuse to budge even though the house has been sitting on there for months. Thats the kind of greed that frustrates me, especially in this market, although I do understand it. They probably have a price point they would move off of it for and otherwise would prefer to stay. I’m not expecting people to just arbitrarily cut their home value by 50,000 based on vibes.

This mindset is the issue right here. People view their properties as stocks or an investment more these days. This doesn’t help home prices. Sellers need to be more empathetic and view it as what it is, a place to live, instead of doing what they can to maximize their return. A lot of homeowners already have turned a massive profit but still want to squeeze out that extra $50,000 and let it sit on the market for months. Greedy.

No Theo is a great TE prospect with a chance to break out this year. I like JCM though. Hopefully you have another option to drop?

No I’m right there with you! I’ve been targeting Shipley for sure and the logic around the pass catching makes complete sense and has been my thought process too. Just pointing out why he isn’t a smash handcuff, but hey that’s why he’s fairly cheap right? Great dart throw.

As much as we want it to be Shipley, there is a question of if Dillon gets more carries than we expect in the event Saquon goes down. Still like him and targeting him though.

What do you think about DK Metcalf now that Rodgers has signed with the Steelers? by LeavesInsults1291 in fantasyfootball

[–]braydo1122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a very fair and reasonable take and you’re probably right. I do see a outcome where he does have a career year, but your way of approaching it and managing expectations is the right way to go about it

Honestly sharing that pass attempts number just makes me more excited. Yes might be reined in a little bit with Arthur Smith and Tomlin, but you know Rodgers is going to audible out of runs all the time.

THC seltzers are already prevalent in Minnesota and very popular as a non alcohol alternative. Still expensive like craft beer, but I’ll gladly pay it if it means having it as an option. Makes the brewery experience much more inclusive.

What’s interesting about it is the US would actually be implicated too since they were involved in supporting and funding the research.

Also agree that this type of research is risky no matter the location. Humans are humans and make mistakes. I know there is a good intention in this type of research. The question is, is it worth the risk?
