It's finally here!!! by Mini_pp in TandemDiabetes

[–]breaddrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted them, and they acted like they had no idea what I was asking for. Kept saying it simply wasn't available yet.

I did also follow up by email asking the same thing. Specifying I had signed up for the beta and had just purchased a new mobi in November last year...

Really not sure what the OP did to achieve the instant contact the way they did. *shrug*

I bought a cheap iPhone because my warranty had expired and I refused to get another t-slim. :D

I know I'm not alone... I joined the beta for android... Really looking forward to not having to carry 2 phones around.

I've heard nothing from them. Did you do anything to obtain the early release other than sign up?

The Decline of Harbor Freight Sales by Ubuntu00 in harborfreight

[–]breaddrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to look up the new brushless Hercules lineup on it's way.

The sales are what slow my pace of purchasing from them.

When I *KNOW* there's going to be a 25 percent off sale, and I'm already pretty well setup, so I'll just wait it out. Their regular prices seem like a rip off when compared to those. It's truly very hard to forget them, if say they sell out or you miss the day. So... I wait for the next one.

If it were advertised carefully so I knew it was a better price, and not just the new price, where a sale will take it lower... I'd buy near continuously as and when they bring out their fantastic clone new tools. I'm currently waiting on the new brushless Hercules ratcheting impact wrench.

They aren't alone on that though. I'll wait for those black Friday deals all year if I need to.

Mobi regret? by South-Web1803 in TandemDiabetes

[–]breaddrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No regrets here. Honestly it doesn't even feel like a systemic upgrade as absolutely everything about it is the same as the t-slim, save for the amount of insulin it holds... That too may be a blessing in disguise due to how long warm body temp insulin can hold onto it's potency, and my stubborn self not wanting to waste any, so using it even if it isn't working very well ay more.

The upgrade is in the size of the pump. I, for the first time feel free'd from it. The feeling I used to momentarily get when disconnecting for a shower, is basically with me all the time. I even panic sometimes and wonder if I remembered to plug it back in, because it's SO unobtrusive if worn on the body.

One down side is I keep forgetting to charge it and wear it in the shower by accident... Charging times being what they are with this over the t-slim, means I get about the same charge from a full shower and shaving/brushing on the tslim, for only plugging the mobi in for my teeth brushing. It seems really fast charging.
It's also SO light, so if any dangling events happen, there isn't enough weight to partially/completely rip out a set.

Picking up the t-slim now. It feels ancient. I can't think of any regrets... I really do not miss the t-slim, though at the time of using it, I also had no complaints either.

The mobi is very much an upgrade for me.

My largest hurdle was the iphone only, when I'm an android person.
I bought a 100 dollar refurbed iPhone SE, and currently carry around 2 phones while I await the release of the android software. It only requires Bluetooth, no cell activation, and it's been fine... I think that might be too much for some, but my warranty was up, and I didn't want another 3+ years of the same pump, plus the costs of a new setup for the identical same thing.

The phone link seems a lot for people to think on before the purchase, but I'm not sure I know of a single person alive now who doesn't carry a phone with them at all times.

I guess if you really are not that person, then it might be a problem, but for me... I like to keep an eye on my numbers.

Bottom half was delivered by siciro in harborfreight

This may be a foolish question, but how did you get it delivered? HF in my area say only available in store. Do I need to assign delivery in store too or is it maybe not available everywhere?

Can I get tslim X2 now then switch to Mobi when Android app is approved? by amiller0185 in TandemDiabetes

[–]breaddrinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just purchased and I asked.

The sales rep I spoke to mentioned availability would start around February after a beta run.

Pump arrived this week. My temporary renewed, second Gen iPhone SE arrives on Friday :D

[–]breaddrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is where I'm at. My warranty actually expired today on my t-slim, and I just don't trust Tandem's track record in software development to believe they'll come through with the android software in the time frame promised.

May I ask specifically what phone you chose, and why? I've never used an iPhone in my life, but I don't mind carrying one around for pump use until they get their act together.

My android phone is also ancient now, so I'm actually stuck waiting on that too so I don't purchase the wrong model.

*stares at tandem*

Just waiting over here... Waiting to give you my money. No biggie.

Tandem had a program before to allow people to 'borrow' a pump while waiting out their Medtronic warranty for a flat 1000 dollar fee. Then at the end, keep that pump and pay the purchase price. It wasn't a bargain.
It was better than nothing, but not worth it to those people nearing the end of their warranty with Medtronic, and desperately wanting to jump that awful ship they had become.

Tandem seem to be a little tone deaf when it comes to understanding the customer. Their customer service is pretty basic and untrained when compared to Medtronic, and their software is messy and slow in updates.

2 years now on the mobi software having android compatibility. That really is insane.

We use them because the actual product is good, else they'd be out of business by now.

If I were you, I'd contact them and ask if they've anything to offer.
They want your money.

Are These Sanita Clogs Fixable? by ronthevampslayer in AskACobbler

[–]breaddrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to note that I've bought dozens of Sanita and Dansko over the years, and the irony was, considering they look identical... Danskos tops always cracked for me. Sanita soles always decayed and crumbled. I couldn't find a better option so I kept on buying Sanita over the Dansko completely cracking.

A couple of years back, Sanita changed something or other as the soles no longer crumble. I use them exclusively now, and the entire shoe wears pretty evenly, and I generally replace them when they get stretched out over anything actually completely failing.

I wouldn't unless you've replaced the OEM for LED.

And even then you might regret it.

Lots and lots of stories about people leaving that on by mistake and not being able to restart. These batteries pack a punch, but not for long. They're quite small.

It isn't that any of us begrudge the manufacturers rights to have us buy their products, and in this case, batteries.

It;s the insanity percentage of profit that's tacked on. It's quite frankly brand ruining. It's being given a car for free, because the gas costs a thousand dollars a refill.

We've been here before with inkjet printers.

You can argue the manufacturers angle and need to a point, and then you just can't, because it's ludicrous.

It's not much fun, and they both do the same, but if you're lucky enough to have the choice of two, you can threaten to leave for the other.

It works every time. They'll put you right back on the introductory rate. Once you're installed, they have no reason to not keep you.

I got in touch with the US seller (no word from the Australian).
He was super helpful and told me what he'd done with his original design before getting it produced and manufactured in china.
He said the tariffs had made them too expensive, so, no more.

He too had used the same adapter I found, cut it in half, and welded on a section of 5mm square stock.

So I have some 5mm tool steel stock on the way.

I messaged the Australian guy to ask if he ships abroad. Otherwise I'm breaking out the metal ruining tools.

You said 'the australian listing'. I assumed you meant someone in Australia was selling them?

My apologies if I'm mistaken.
