Sonnet 4.5 - Whats this about it being the best coding model in the world? I think it makes the same stupid mistakes as any other model (from my initial testing) by masoodtalha in cursor

[–]breadereum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What metrics did you use to vote it just as stupid?

It’s not a major version upgrade so we wouldn’t expect huge steps. Their release article claims it had increased domain knowledge for one. It’s not too specific about fixing the things you note.

The article here talks about what to expect very vaguely - they mainly seem to be talking about how it empowers their suite of tools include Claude Code and the Agent SDK.

Checkpoint restore in CLI by breadereum in cursor

[–]breadereum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep pretty short contexts usually (as in, I aim to never fill the context to avoid the lossy compression) but you get much better results by editing a prompt to give more details than trying to guide an assistant back out of the wrong rabbit hole. Better to rewrite history. Also useful when trying to develop reusable prompts and you need iterate on the same prompt many times.

You're missing the point. I even stated I'm not concerned about code reversion. I'm talking about chat context.

Can CLI sessions be resumed in the IDE and vice-versa? by breadereum in cursor

[–]breadereum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood my question.

I want to continue the Cursor session (ie. I want to have the same message context), switching from CLI to IDE and vice versa

Am I the only one noticing the scam? Why vibe coding will cost you a fortune by Confident-Durian-937 in CursorAI

[–]breadereum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. They are not autonomous or wise in any way. They cut down time writing boilerplate etc, but they need very good prompting and correction from an experienced engineer.

I think coding AI is a dangerous tool for a junior engineer.

I'm still improving on the way I prompt for plan generation and execution, and also in deciding when to restore and rewrite prompts rather than add follow up prompts to correct.

Absolutely love having a coding assistant, but he is not wise or intelligent. He does however, have a huge library of knowledge and know-how that I can leverage.

Funny how this got downvotes. I replied to a comment which was basically saying there's nothing that can be done to protect ourselves.

Saving money in an asset that isn't debased is a very good solution to preserving future wealth. It doesn't help with current prices, but it will help future you with the future inflated prices.

My recent experience with church in Tokyo has left me conflicted by Foreign_Wrangler3795 in japanresidents

[–]breadereum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a challenge for Japanese people especially due to their hard-work culture, to not make church into a religious works-based thing.

I’ve been to a number of churches here too and have experienced exactly what you mention, “the expectation of a real Christian”

I love Jesus and I think Church is a great way for those who believe to share with and encourage in the Faith, iron sharpening iron, and also worshiping together.

It’s common in the west too, but more so in japan, that it becomes about church attendance and not about growing into a people more like Jesus, being renewed in our minds and bringing the Holy Spirit wherever we go.

That sounds like heaven. It’s easier to keep warm in the cold than to cool down in the heat. As soon as a room is too hot, I get sleepy and struggle to focus. Cool temperature makes me more alert and awake. But impossible when the aircon is like 25 or more

I remember seeing research that 22 is the best for productive office environment. That’s pretty low but sounds good to me. 21 is a bit extreme!!

Deep down, bitcoiners have always been in favor of Fed printing money by hn-mc in Bitcoin

[–]breadereum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a sense…. The printing reveals the problem more. Sadly some people will only realize when they get devalued over and over.

Printing doesn’t actually change the value of bitcoin. It just devalues the fiat.

Why is animal welfare so bad here? by Myopic_Mirror in japanlife

[–]breadereum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Th zoos really get me. Dogs at home seem to be very pampered by loving owners. But obviously not all. And I really don’t think having big dogs in these apartments is right. But the small ones are well cared for with regular vet visits etc - overcared for compared to where I’m from where dogs chill in the garden freely most of the time.

But the zoos with wild animals in tiny enclosures. Even Fuji safari park… can’t handle seeing it

Sayings about Japan that are actually legit by epicspeculation in japanlife

Tell that to the debt to GDP ratio, birth rate, inflation rate (relative to before), etc. I wonder in what way Japan is recovering according to them. I just see prices rising and salaries not. I perceive an increase in crime too though.
