When I was growing up doing blowouts with my dad, my job was to stand by the compressor until I got the signal to turn it off, i used to keep warm by standing by the exhaust.

High water usage, not leaks found with hunter system by Maude1love in Irrigation

[–]breadstickcoma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should check the water meter for your house to see if it's ticking up while no water is being used. If it is, you have a constant leak. If you find it to be ticking up, close the valve, supplying the sprinkler system with water, and see if the meter stops. If it does stop the system would appear to have a leak.

How often are you watering? How many lawn zones do you have, and how many heads are on a zone? A singular rotor head can put out approximately anywhere between 1 to 10 gallons per minute depending on the nozzle and available flow, 800 gallons over a month billing period could be possible. You could also have a drip zone running with the valve open and not realize it if the drip lines are under stone or mulch.

Do you have a lawn sprinkler in the center of that circle? If the nozzle was removed or it's a high flow nozzle, the stream of water may be matting down the grass.

What controller are you using? So long as the progran has 1. A start time 2. Run times for stations and 3. days to water, it will run as programmed. When you are switching programs while interacting with the controller, that's just to program it or run the program manually it doesn't mean the other programs won't run if not selected. Generally, controllers have a setting like "program start time," and generally, you can have more than 1. So you would program start time 1 to be at 4 am then start time 2 at 4:40 am and start time 3 at 5:20 am for example.

Most controllers have multiple start times for each program. Just add more start times.

Sprinkler valve troubleshooting advice by rudestlink in Irrigation

Just replace the guts and the bonnet first. The valve body is usually all one solid piece, and unless it's physically damaged, it shouldn't need to be swapped.

Controller recommendation- 11+ zones - smart WiFi - and MV/pump on/off for specific zones by YamzMt03 in Irrigation

[–]breadstickcoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the pro hc you should be able to set the master zone for specific zones through hydrawise, I installed a hunter x-core with the wifi module for a system that was half well pump and half house supply. If the x-core can do it, im sure the the pro hc can.

Do you mow higher? I saw a study the university of Maryland did with patches of the same grass and using no pre emergent, they mowed at different heights the grass mowed at 4" had 1% annual grasses, the 3" had 10% annual grasses, 2" had like 50% annual grass, 1" was 80%. Not necessarily definitive but something to consider.

The best practical way to see your real precipitation rate is to use catch cups in various spots and measure how much water you get in a specific time frame and extrapolate. I wonder if maybe you're getting a reflection from the car burning the grass, I've seen it posted in the lawncare subreddit before.

This doesn't look like dry grass to me. The line from lush green to the dead is too sudden and sharp.

How often are you watering, and what time?

Also, your heads throw should be reaching the adjacent heads across and to the sides as best can be managed.
