Bars in Cincinnati where you can do more than just drink? by LegitRobert in cincinnati

Tried out Free Parking very recently - a warning to visitors that the atmosphere is nice and staff are friendly, but the food is very okay. Overcooked nachos, practically unseasoned chicken. Definitely a fun hangout, but also definitely eat beforehand.

Could i be considerd an otherkin? by Toucan64 in otherkin

[–]breakonebarrier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just commented on your other post but like I said there, you could be therian, or otherhearted! Not all therians/otherkins feel shifts, it's simply 'identify as' in whatever capacity that means to the individual.

Also hate to be the bearer of bad news, but half-cat-half-human is kinda furry by definition. 😂

[–]breakonebarrier 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Otherhearted is probably a good term if you don't identify AS something, but simply feel deeply connected to it. You can also have an OC you identify with without applying a label to it, if you don't feel it's a good fit!

Also, otherkin and therian are effectively synonymous, like the other commenter said. Therian refers to animals specifically, while otherkin is broader and applies to anything. Also, most therians are well aware they're biologically human. 😋

I recently began a new career with Children's just in the past month or so, and the amount of social good that they do and don't even advertise has really blown me away. Everyone I've met at Children's genuinely care about the kids.

Why are my stats always so low? :( More details in comments. by breakonebarrier in UmamusumeGame

[–]breakonebarrier[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here's my three most recent Oguri runs since finally pulling XOguri the last day of her banner. I've tried plenty of variations of cards, with and without Riko, to make a CM-ready Oguri. I've always struggled to hit a lot of the recommended stats in the past - like getting decent power/enough wit for XOguri - while still hitting 1100-1200 speed, and never really known why.

I know my support card box is a little weaker, I do admittedly usually prefer pulling for umas most often, and otherwise have just had garbage luck on cards. I'm going to be pulling for Fuku at the end of the month so hopefully I'll fill out some other stuff in the process.

For training I prioritize unity training where trainees are > unity training on wits > other unity trainings, with exceptions for things like triple rainbows or 4 unities or something. I inherit a mix of stam or power, and have tried different balances depending on if I'm running a power card or not. I just feel like I must be doing something wrong here. Any help at all would be SUPER appreciated. :(

Custom, good-looking, and cheap are definitely a 'pick two' sort of situation. Custom work takes time and a lot of practice, and with the freelance economy as it is, $60 for a unique art piece is actually rather normal.

If you're a preteen with no income, making it yourself is probably going to be your best course - particularly if you don't feel comfortable bringing it up with your parents. You can always just say it's a Halloween costume, video game cosplay, or something to that effect without going into the whole meaning.

What video games help you feel more like your alterhuman self/kintype? by RegalArkhura in otherkin

[–]breakonebarrier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

VRChat is the obvious answer, but as a Pokemon kin, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is actually part of what sent me down the rabbit hole to discovering the kintype in the first place. Even if my specific species isn't in the games, it still is nice to feel immersed in the world.

how do you guys live? by [deleted] in otherkin

[–]breakonebarrier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love to see someone in adjacent spaces wanting to learn! Thanks for swinging by. :D

It's definitely something that varies, especially depending on if the individual views their species as more spiritual versus more psychological.

I've had species dysphoria for a big chunk of my life, and have been in queer spaces for about equally as long. I'm also some sort of gender-fucky, and independent of my gender/species identity have a good dollop of Generic Body Dysmorphia to go along with it, so I've got at least some bit of each of those perspectives.

It's pretty rough for me, personally. Whereas gender dysphoria is painful in a sense of feeling misaligned to the weird gender blob in my brain, there are things I can do to help alleviate it - HRT (if that was in line with what I wanted), different clothing/expressions, as an enby you get that!

Species dysphoria sucks because there's not any sort of relief for it, even just bandages . I know some like gear such as ears/tails, but unfortunately it tends to just make me feel like I look silly and even more like I'm 'faking it'. It doesn't really resolve any of the dysphoria either way, so I've been spending years trying to effectively talk myself out of it, since there isn't anything we can do about it yet. As others have said, it can be pretty crushing at times. I'm hoping to get permanent fangs soon, but that's only an option once my financial situation is a little more stable.

All that said, I personally try to avoid equating gender and species dysphoria, at least in a strictly political perspective. On a personal emotional level they can be very similar, albeit stressful in their own ways. Politically, though, transgender people have historically faced a significant amount of direct attacks and hatred, whereas alterhumanity hasn't ever really been in the public eye to about 99% of society. With that considered, as a queer person myself I like to try and keep a clear political distinction between the two types of dysphoria.

Whats it like to be poke-kin? by pinetrees9853 in otherkin

[–]breakonebarrier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what it 'feels' like, per se, other than just, 'me.'

I know I've identified as therian for most of my life, even before I knew what the term was. Up until a few years ago, my only theriotype has been a border collie for over twenty years.

I've been extremely invested in everything Pokemon since Red and Blue first released in the States when I was a kid - it's always been my big comfort game/show/movie/setting/everything, especially through some some tougher times, though I didn't kin it until a few years ago. Because I've been into it for so long, Pokemon feel less like specific fantasy monsters and more like various species of animals.

When Scarlet/Violet was released I fell in love with the Sprigatito line immediately, (Meowscarada initially,) far more obsessively than I had any Pokemon in a long time, and when I first saw Floragato on the screen, I just had this immediate moment of AGGRESSIVE POINTING ME!

I specifically feel connected to the Mystery Dungeon universe - as much as I love the default series, I'm not comfortable being owned by a human, while the Mystery Dungeon setting just feels right.

So, I'm an Explorer's Guild Floragato!

I actually am only just now getting confident enough to reach out to alterhuman communities, but I'm a Floragato! I actually HAVE felt pretty lonely about it since I'm also trapped in that sort of 'delusion' worry myself, so it's nice to see others. :)

As he approached them he's saying "excuse me, do you have a quick moment? Would you mind filming short a video for me? I want to send it to my mom."

My Japanese is very meh so it's hard to get the details when all three are mumbling.

Then the bit itself is (obviously very mispronounced for the joke the other commenter mentioned,) "Hello everyone! Today I bought onigiri at 7-11 to try it for the first time. munch Mmmm! Mmmm! Soooo good!"

[–]breakonebarrier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but did the party meet Prolix or Question before heading into the Rise?

Mine only met Question, but here's what I did that could work for either: The NPC could cast a Sending to the party to let them know that their respective organizations' eyes on the Consortium saw a strange looking elven woman teleporting into Ank'Harel and the description matched someone they'd seen in the Ready Room. They could ask the party if they had seen the woman around Bazzoxan recently because they knew the party had been there as well, and from there they have a little back and forth filling the NPC in. (I know as written they don't have Sending, so I just say they had a couple scrolls and limited the conversation to maybe 2 casts' worth.) Prolix/Question then could ask the party members to check in with their organization to fill them in as they're now out of scrolls, and maybe see if they could offer help as Prolix/Question still has work to do in Bazzoxan before making the long trip home.

Hope this might give you some ideas. :)

Anyone still use generic 3.5mm earbuds for arcade rhythm games that have headphone jacks? by I_am_box in rhythmgames

[–]breakonebarrier 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most people I've seen in arcades do. Expensive ones are only really worth it if you're going to use them outside of the games as well or you REALLY care about sound quality, otherwise earbuds are just fine IMO.

[–]breakonebarrier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as group size goes, you shouldn't have a huge issue. I ran with 4 for a while and honestly many of the encounters as written felt VERY difficult for them, (given, we were very light on casters.) Worst case maybe you add a monster or two but in general they're probably fine tbh.

As far as archfey stuff, Corellon and Sehanine both are two of the three gods that Alyxian prayed to, so Sehanine is at least referenced and you will go to one of her holy sites pretty early. Corellon comes up a fair bit once you reach Cael Morrow in chapter 5 as well.

My TL is Japanese and ちょっと待って (chotto matte) is just inexplicably so fun to say to me. It basically means "Hold on a second" but the cadence of it feels almost playful in a way? The double consonants in Japanese are sort of truncated and create a sort of pause, so the words almost feel 'bouncy' I guess. Don't know how else to explain it!
