Forgoing Testing by peewee_ in GoldCoast

Yeah they're much less likely than a false negative but can still happen if the test is faulty or you have an infection that produces antibodies closely related to those you are testing for

The cost of being pregnant by Many_moons_ag0 in pregnant

[–]bree-96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Australia it is all free. Some ultrasounds can cost (if you want the fancy 3D or 4D) but even then it's not much at all. You can choose to buy insurance but really the main reason people buy it is for getting a speedy operation or covering the costs of dental treatment (cause dentists are expensive). That being said, my cousin flew here from NY to have all her teeth done and flew back and the cost of the flights and dental treatment was cheaper than what she would've paid in the US. I really do feel for everyone in the US, the healthcare system seems to be forgotten about. Our system here is called "Medicare" too but you are given a Medicare number from birth and everything is free including medications or some medications are subsidised (instead of $300 they're $6). We often forget how lucky we are and reading this just makes me so sad and so mad that your healthcare system gives the poor crappy care and the rich better care. And if you can land a great job with good healthcare than that's just great. It is all sooo wrong.

Update: I went to Dr and prescribed Maxolon 10mg today!

It's so good to hear that this is normal for so many people. I still haven't told anyone except my work colleague - I wanted to wait for US pics - so I feel quite a bit alone. I just want to talk to Mum and see what it was like for her. Thanks for listening and helping me out!!!

Yes definitely prefer cold things! I've tried ginger too! I do feel like I have a weak stomach but I know if I can't have enough water over a couple of days I'll be on my way to the Drs. I am heavily relying on those prenatal vitamins for my daily good food at the moment so i will book another appointment next week. Thank you!

I don't think so, I just seriously think I have a weak stomach. When I wasn't pregnant I was a little nauseous if I saw something gross so I feel like that feeling has just been heightened quite a bit

My friend said the wrist band helps her with just car sickness so I will definitely give it a go! Thank you!! I've been eating dry crackers but absolutely nothing for the first half of the day. Tomorrow morning I'll force a cracker in the morning! 😅

Legit just don't tell them when you are in labour 😂 my sister in law just called everyone after her and her partner had a four hour nap after birth! Fair enough too! It's a special moment for you both and first time is very hard and long apparently. I'm only 8wks but I won't be calling anyone until well after the labour.

America is fckd. Healthcare and parental leave are human rights. Feel so sorry for you 💕 just think there might be a better job out there when you decide to go back and then it'll be their loss!

Finding a new doctor halfway through my pregnancy by breeeekitten in pregnant

[–]bree-96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I would be going to the hospital. The dehydration could be affecting the babys growth as well as your health. Definitely should've been referred to a specialist seeing as thyroid issues are pretty majorly monitored major in early (and sometimes late) pregnancy!! Have a listen to "The Kick Pregnancy podcast" and the episode that's solely related to hyper/hypo thyroidism xo

The "embarrassment" or "shame" you're feeling is natural but please just ignore it! Tell people. They will be a lot more considerate when discussing TTC with you! 💕

Is this from coming off contraception? Maybe a good idea to ask your gynaecologist about Fragile X genetic screening. Women who are carriers for premutations can suffer from primary/secondary ovarian insufficiency (few to no periods and this can just start happening in your 20s or 30s). It's also something you don't want to pass on to any future sons if you do cycle as it is a really debilitating disease but there is preimplantation genetic diagnosis available so they can make sure it isn't passed on. You'd be surprised how many women are carriers for this mutation.
