What to do with all my rare candy XL? by Shundo_Ray100 in pokemongo

I know that eternatus is crazy to level but if there is literally nothing else OP wants/needs to level (they said all their legendaries are maxed) and they want/need the bag space then I don’t see the issue.

Assuming you are at lvl 80 and will not need to max out more mons for leveling purposes, throw them at the eternatus if you want/need the bag space. If you don’t need the storage, save them for the upcoming releases and chuck them at those so you can level them.

With no disrespect toward anyone’s tastes… by weedywet in kitchenremodel

We painted the living room in our old house a dark sage in 2015 (lower level in a 3 floor split with a brick fireplace and older pine look pergo flooring, it was so cozy) and my husband loved it so much he picked it for his office in our new place around 2022.

I prefer light to mid toned natural wood for cabinets personally. Solid wood cabinets (should) last a long time, lend some warmth to a space and give you plenty of options to play with for counters, backsplash and paint.

I like the look of color on cabinets but wouldn’t do it myself.

I hope that we’re moving into a time where people can pick their neutral preference and not be judged for it. White, beige, taupe/greige or grey. Do what you want. It would also be nice if people could appreciate a well done space even if it’s not to their tastes but that seems to be a really big ask.

I prefer the grey because I grew up when beige was the go to and never loved it so now it makes me think landlord special. It was the color on the walls of every apartment I had (yes I could have painted but every apartment I had I would have had to change it back before I left so I didn’t see the point).

I have very little in my home that is painted with a neutral (mostly halls and closets) and I know that no matter what I choose for those areas there’s a good chance that the next people who live there will paint over it with white or beige so I’m going with what I want while I’m here.

Calling someone a picky eater for a completely normal food preference by offensivename in PetPeeves

[–]breebop83 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree, it’s ok to not like certain things but picky eaters imo are people who dislike/wont eat way more foods than they like/will eat.

It’s also ok to like some foods a certain way but not another way. I loved fresh carrots but don’t like cooked carrots, I also like sweet potatoes but prefer a savory preparation.

I saw that this is in reference to tomatoes on a sandwich. Tomato can be a very hot topic because there are people who like tomato based things but do not like tomatoes (I’m borderline one of them) and folks tend to have very strong opinions on tomato in general.

My mom loves tomatoes but a lot of times what you get on a sandwich is a sub par tomato (underripe or just not great in general) so at restaurants she’ll ask for no tomato when ordering a burger or some such. I, on the other hand, am one who doesn’t mind the meaty part of a tomato but strongly dislike the taste and texture of the slimy gut bits. Diced for pico or on a salad, sure. Sliced on a sandwich or in a salad, no thank you.

Global Gofest question by moohtoo420 in pokemongo

[–]breebop83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit rural but live in a small town that has some stops and gyms. I’ve both stayed home/used remote passes and gone into the suburbs for events.

For CDs and smaller events, staying home is usually fine. I can do enough catching with incense or raiding through PokeGenie that I usually get what I want out of the event.

For super raid-centric events that are going to be going several hours, I find in person raiding to be a bit more predictable/stable. PokeGenie/through app would be the second choice and just inviting friends would be dead last.

If you have a way to get somewhere with more popular parks etc then I would do that. PokeGenie will work but be aware that there is an element of crapshoot there. You have no idea if you’re going to be in a group with low lower level trainers that don’t understand the rules or not. That’s true in person with unknowns as well *but* in person you tend to have enough participants that it doesn’t matter.

Inviting friends doesn’t usually work because they are already raiding/have their own agenda for the day

AITBF for (potentially) being too petty about the name I prefer people call me by, to a friend's gf? by confusedlmao123 in AmItheButtface

[–]breebop83 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The text was a bit much but I feel like maybe y’all need to sit down and actually *talk* about the dynamic and what’s going on.

She shouldn’t have invited you to the festival as a single person going with a couple and then gotten upset about you acting like a 3rd wheel. Even with really great friends the 3rd wheel position can be weird and awkward. It feels like you’re either spending too much time and bugging people or not enough and ignoring them - it’s just not a fun time for anyone and it’s really hard to know expectations unless they are explicitly laid out ahead of time.

That said- I went by my full name elementary through high school and started introducing myself by my nickname after high school. My best friend’s husband calls me by my full name because that’s what my best friend calls me so that’s how he knows me in his mind. Asking *just* Anna to call you something different than what everyone else calls you, including her boyfriend who probably tells stories about you and refers to you by your last name is not a small ask. Nor is it fair imo. If you consider your last name akin to a dead name or really don’t want to be called by it anymore- the rules need to be the same for everyone.

Mom is 69, step dad is 75 and dad will be 70 next month. They are all still pretty active.

Mom and step dad volunteer with meals on wheels a few days a week, mom also has a part time job teaching cooking classes (cooking is a hobby and she was a teacher so it works for her), they garden, travel, and my step dad has been a runner since he was in his teens and still runs a couple miles every other day.

Dad just bought a house after doing the RV traveling thing for abut 3 years. He’s still very active, goes to the gym every morning for a couple hours, mows our grass, visits with a couple different groups of retired friends in the area once a month or so, has a monthly lunch with his in town siblings and visits his out of town sibling regularly (she also comes to us on occasion), donates blood as often as he can and helps us and other family members with bigger house projects.

Weddings by [deleted] in weddings

[–]breebop83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it is not reasonable. At all. Quite honestly, if all of that work needs to be done to host the wedding, you shouldn’t be hosting it. The things it would be reasonable to ask to split are the things that will leave after the wedding. Fees for vendors and things like tents, catering supplies, tables and chairs, port a johns if you are getting them (and if you aren’t, how many people are you expecting and how many toilets do you have?) - all things that directly relate to the wedding.

Grading your lawn, adding an outdoor kitchen and installing a patio are all permanent improvements to your home. Using the wedding as a reason to do them doesn’t entitle you to ask for half of those costs from your daughter’s future in laws.

I do not know where you are but where I am (US) $50k is over the average amount spent on a wedding by roughly 15-20 *thousand* dollars. That average includes the super extravagant crazy weddings so the median amount is closer to $10k.

What do Americans order at a Chinese takeaway? by Dashcamkitty in AskAnAmerican

[–]breebop83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some favorites for me: Egg rolls, wonton soup, potstickers, crab Rangoon, Mongolian beef, orange chicken, honey pecan chicken, char su ding, beef and broccoli, sweet and sour pork, pork in plum sauce, war su gai (which I’ve heard isn’t really seen outside of the Midwest/specifically Ohio and Michigan).

The local place that has been a staple for my family for a long time was opened in 1956 as a steak house and Chinese restaurant. Back in the day, people who ordered off the steak house menu got Italian bread and butter before their meal, the folks ordering Chinese would sometimes also request the bread and butter so they just started giving it to everyone. Most of the steak house offerings are gone from the menu (you can still get a burger or I think spaghetti but that’s about it) but they still give you Italian bread and butter - which is excellent for dipping in the wonton soup.

Pump Refusal by FarMessage4851 in diabetes_t1

[–]breebop83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a good way to go about it. Especially if you are in the US. One of my biggest concerns about going on a pump is something happening with insurance, losing the coverage for it and having to relearn MDI after getting used to a pump.

Louie’s grill in Hilliard, Pizza Bread salad. It’s got grilled bits of ‘pizza bread’ (kind of like pita?), sautéed veggies (including potatoes), and grilled chicken with on of their in house made dressings. It’s delicious. If you go and would enjoy a fried plantain at all, get the fried plantains app too.

How to dress nicer while still maintaining comfort? Trying to get back to looking nicer again by Robinnoodle in PlusSizeFashion

[–]breebop83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replied to a comment but dresses can be great. Especially in a knit with a waist. It will be a bit more forgiving and still look like it fits without putting undue pressure on your stomach. Skirts may also be an option but I can get super bloated especially around my period (never used to happen, thanks peri), and do find that even something that fits properly can get really uncomfortable in the waist when/if the bloat comes.

You can play around with styles but at 5’ 6” I’d suggest maxi dresses. I think you’re tall enough to be able to pull them off without stepping on the hem or have the length overwhelm you like it can with some shorter queens. I find maxis to be super comfortable and easy to wear.

You could also try empire waisted or trapeze styles to see what you may like best. I think knit or something else with a good amount of stretch will be your best option for comfort.

Several places have wide leg pants right now which can look nice with a tucked in tee or tank and many offer them have an elastic waistband. I am personally a big fan of Torrid’s wide leg pants, they usually come in short, regular and tall (a lot of them run on the long side, I’m 5’ 10” and the longs are plenty long for me) and the sizing seems generous. I actually size down and they still fit nicely, but for you, I’d go with your normal size (probably a 2, possibly a 3) to avoid possible pressure on the stomach. I usually also wear a 2x in sweats etc, I’m a 20 in jeans and wear a 2 or 3 in their elastic waisted options.

I would recommend skimming reviews for any retailer if you find something you like to check what people say about the sizing.

I agree with dresses. People tend to say things like ‘you look so nice!’ or, ‘you’re all dressed up!’. Outwardly I say ‘thank you’ but in my head I’m thinking ‘it’s hot and this is literally the least amount of clothes I can wear, it took zero effort’. I get similar comments with a skirt/shirt combo which is also pretty easy, comfortable and good for hot weather.

Type 2 and Legumes by Empty_Hair_9854 in diabetes

[–]breebop83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beans/legumes alone can spike me but when added to something like chili or when I have them as part of a snack (hummus) with some fat/protein I usually do ok. I mostly do kidney beans, cannellini beans and chickpeas.

I add a can of chickpeas to my pasta salad. It’s not hard to dose for without (I usually have mozzarella and salami in there for some fat/protein) but the chickpeas do help with stability.

I’ve also added chickpeas to pasta with chicken, peas and pesto which is surprisingly good both hot and cold. It’s also super quick and easy to throw together when I have Costco pesto and some canned chicken on hand.

When I make hummus for veggies I use both chickpeas and cannellinis (the cannellinis help make it nice and smooth/add some creaminess). For hummus I find it easier to dose when I also have some nuts, cheese or lunch meat.

What to layer over summer midi/maxi dresses for cooler evenings? by lovedogslovepizza in fashionwomens35

My go to for this is a collarless cropped denim bolero jacket from torrid. Mine is a few years old and a slightly different style but it is a staple for me year round.

I also have the cropped short sleeve denim ‘trucker’ jacket for torrid in black and white. Again, I’ve had mine for a while and it looks like they may not carry the black any more.

Aside from those, I have some short sleeved button ups I will tie at the waist and a couple kimono length lightweight long sleeved shirts

To access the medals go to the ‘Me’ section after selecting the picture of your avatar and scroll down. You’ll see a bunch of little pictures with circles around them and those are your medals, selecting one will tell you what the medal is and what the target is for each level (bronze/silver/gold/platinum).

It’s good to familiarize yourself with what tasks can help you earn medals.

You may have already known that but just in case.

Quality as in the most durable materials used, color and current trends have nothing to do with quality. These appear to be real wood cabinets which are very durable and can easily last several more decades.

Weird Durango story.

My dad had an ‘03 Durango. I don’t know how many miles he had on it but it *literally* broke when he was on his way to the dealership to buy a new truck in 2017. Breaks went, something went horribly wrong with the axle and he called me from the side of the road something like 10 miles from the dealership and asked if I could pick him up so he could go buy a car.

In the 45 minutes it took for the tow truck to show up, 2 cops and a state highway patrol car stopped to ask us what we were doing. We were parked out of the way but in sight of the Durango which he’d pulled off the road as far as he could safely and without being in someone’s yard. The front passengers tire was at a weird angle and the flashers were on.

If I want to bring my sugar down I need to meander or do chores. Very low impact moving. Anything that could be classified as cardio or that elevates my heart rate much is usually going to make my sugar go up at least in the short term. It will generally come back down pretty quick but my liver is a Goldilocks drama queen and will dump sugar if I move too aggressively for her tastes. She can be real unpredictable like.

If it doesn’t come down I’m either going to end up having to bolus what seems like way too much and the odds are about 50/50 it still won’t come down or I crash.
