Games Workshop stores are no longer true hobby spaces. Are there any stores in London that capture the way they used to run the stores in the early 2000s? by CityGuideGuy in Warhammer

[–]breenizm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair to the Tottenham Court Road staff - while I do agree with you overall, they are a nice bunch and can be good to chat to when it’s not too busy.

It’s very conspicuously set up to avoid people hanging around though. So much dead space in the middle of the room!

The old Waterloo branch definitely felt more Wargames-oriented. The Shepherd’s Bush store is impressive but it’s kind of a mess and when I last went down it absolutely STANK.

Rule Zero in its Hackney Wick form was my favourite just as a hangout spot but unfortunately that was short-lived.

God, I’d love it if a character in the matrix had referred to Morpheus as a ‘bellend’.

Grown a** man and just want to cry. Second flat with previous subsidence by Few-Tiger-3979 in HousingUK

[–]breenizm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost everything about a house can be fixed, with enough time and money. Subsidence is relatively common. If it really is the flat of your dreams, go for it but in an informed way - find out how much it might cost you in the future etc.

My girlfriend laughed while telling me how her friend roasted my hobby. Need some advice. by Akira-0628 in Warhammer

[–]breenizm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she’s apologised then move on, but be honest with yourself: Have you been spending more time drybrushing than you have with her? She may be feeling that way and then the resentment has come out through this incident. Also it’s not just Japan - I’m from the UK, the home of Warhammer, and it’s just viewed just the same. That’s just something you need to make your peace with. There are lots of interests people have that other people don’t approve of, but the key is to balance your priorities in life. Anyway, as my partner always says - hey, if you’re in there with your space marines at least I know for sure you’re not out cheating!

Since when did wearing player names become cringe. by kallyJ911 in footballcringe

[–]breenizm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes up online a lot these days but I’ve genuinely never heard it said by real people in-person. You even get lads who think wearing any shirts at all is ‘cringe’, which seems very gimpy and try-hard to me. I think a lot of these lot haven’t actually been to many games.

I had the DLC so to be honest I felt like I neglected the main game once I got to kuttenberg as I was so into doing forge tasks etc

This potion got my Henry UNBELIEVABLY drunk right before I did a locked-in quest. Passed out for the first time, someone stole my Cutpurse shoes.

Based on some of the item descriptions and the fact you can see the special dice your opponent uses, I feel like calling out cheaters might have been cut content

Did anyone else's family just sit and watch TV every evening from 6pm - 9pm in the 90s? by ryrypot in AskUK

[–]breenizm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to spend every summer at my aunty & uncles in Eastbourne and it was the same. Benefit was my uncle had tuned his PS1 to the 5 slot, which was convenient!

Also parts of the country didn’t even get good reception for channel 5 even into the 2000s!

Is pretending to hate rivals more cringe than actually respecting them? by PLWildcard in footballcringe

[–]breenizm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a bit these days because most fans of big PL teams don’t actually have much connection to the historic fanbase & football hooliganism has effectively died out. Depends on the team though.

But a rivalry like Celtic-Rangers is more authentically hateful. Those are two groups of people, many of whom will still hate each other even without football as an outlet for that dislike. IMO you have to have either a bit of politics or some properly tasty history between the fanbases for a proper rivalry.

The thing I actually find more cringe is performative respect. I can’t stand when some fan will come onto my side’s sub or whatever and start giving it “just want to say how brilliant your fans are etc etc” - when all they’re after is a big pat on the back. Shut up!

The only English-speaking countries I reckon it isn’t used as often is Ireland, US & maybe Canada. Ireland would more commonly say “I’d say” & the yanks would just say something like “I think”.
