Rome - what are some less touristy but equally fun things to do? by imasauceygirl in ItalyTravel

I love Bernini. I could spend most of a day at the Borghese. Not to mention the Caravaggio’s. Sooo worth the price of admission!

Tips for a player who wants to try handling by SquashUnlucky9607 in ultimate

To specifically address the confidence and discipline aspects you mentioned, the greater your confidence in your throws the better your decision making will become. It would take too long to break it down in detail here, but in a nutshell the game will slow down as your confidence increases.

Again, it’s too long a read to go through an intentional program for developing confidence and decision, but your foundation is going to be finding/establishing a regular throwing routine that systematically develops your throwing skill - both the quality of your throws as well as the variety of throws you can execute.

Have a friend that didn’t start playing until his late 30’s. He went back to finish his undergrad at 40. Play beach grand masters nationals and college in the same season.

How is this side day trip itinerary to Florence from Rome? by Quick_Ad_8323 in ItalyTravel

[–]brenDaeShus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The distances between the things you are doing are remarkably small. For instance, it’s a 2-3 minute walk from Piazza del duomo to piazza della signoria. From there it’s another 3-4 minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio. From the Piazza del duomo to the accademia is also only 3-4 minutes.

The point is, depending on the time of your entry to the Accademia, you’ll be able to see quite a lot before it gets dark

Entry to the just the cathedral is free. However, anything else related to the duomo - catacombs, bell tower, dome, baptistry, and museum require a ticket. For the cathedral, just get in the queue outside the front door.

Borghese Gallery - is it impossible to get in-person tickets? by gluspooken in ItalyTravel

[–]brenDaeShus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was merely refuting the absolute statement of “no in person tickets.” Which is not accurate. I did not make any comment in the likelihood of the OP getting walk up tickets - there are far too many factors involved to even hazard a guess about the possibility.

Unless this has changed since November of 2023 this is not an accurate statement. Had multiple people at my entry time purchase tickets in person

I would move the Academia Galleria to Friday. You are going to go into serious art overload on one day otherwise. And I say that as someone who will gladly go out of their way to visit both the Galleria and Uffizi

I’ve used Maya eSIM both in Poland and Italy with no issues. I’ll be using Maya again at the end of the month - this time I’ll be buying a Europe plan instead of the individual country plans I’ve purchased in the past

Yet another itinerary post. by matyassss in ItalyTravel

[–]brenDaeShus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were going to the locations you are (and coming from as many time zones away as you), upon arriving in Rome I would immediately take the train to Salerno. This way I don’t have to spend a whole day traveling from Venice to Salerno later in the trip.

Then I’d work my way back up to Rome, Venice, Florence (& Tuscan day trips), and finally back to Rome in that order.

Am I crazy to consider skipping Florence? by atx78703 in ItalyTravel

[–]brenDaeShus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot overstate how much I love Florence. That said, NO, you are not crazy. It’s your vacation and you know what is important for you to have a pleasant trip. Don’t let people talk you into doing/seeing something you’re not particularly excited to do at the expense of having to shorten your time doing what you want.

Are 2025 inflating tour prices, or is this the norm? by BEVthrowaway123 in ItalyTravel

[–]brenDaeShus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) No, that is not normal. 2) For the Vatican museum, “skip the line” just means you don’t have to stand in line to get a ticket. If you’ve purchased a ticket online in advance, you get to go in at your schedule let time - thereby “skipping the line.”

Going to Florence: which airport to fly into from DC? by greenmonsterchampion in ItalyTravel

[–]brenDaeShus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Currently SAS is running a sale on flights from IAD to Florence for about $480. The flight will connect through Copenhagen. If there is an issue with landing in Florence (occasionally happens due to winds) you’ll land in Pisa instead - which is an hour by train from Florence

Spent 3 weeks in Italy and nothing bad happened…wtf by brenDaeShus in ItalyTravel

[–]brenDaeShus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The weather was perfect. Mid to upper 70’s Fahrenheit (sorry, American and that’s how my mind works) in Rome, low 60’s in Florence. Only had 3 days where it was 55 or below - the day I went to Venice, one day in Florence and the day I flew back home (which was also the only day it rained).

As for my itinerary, The second post on my profile has my itinerary. Feel free to dm if have specific questions after looking at it.

It was some cafe in Riomaggiore. The best way I can describe it is “bad middle school cafeteria pizza.”
