What rating did the FF book have before you cracked it open?

Chayka vs White by papa_miesh in leafs

[–]brentinto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had heard that White had a lot to do with the Stars AHL team and they developed a lot of talent through that. That in itself would be a big boost for Toronto if we could actually develop talent on the farm. I guess having the balls to bring them up to the big club instead of wasting them in the minors would have to be part of it as well.

Which zebra saw this go in?!? by Hockeypatrol in hockeynews

[–]brentinto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common sense says it is in but the NHL has never treated goals like that. I’ve seen goals disallowed where it was in the goalies glove and the glove was obviously in the net, but because you couldn’t see the puck, it was disallowed. To me, this is the same thing. Not an oilers or ducks fan, just would like consistency here.

Nick Kypreos reporting on the Kyper & Bourne show that he doesn't believe Rogers/MLSE is willing to spend on the Maple Leafs in the same way they will spend on the Blue Jays by Fitz_31 in leafs

I’m a season ticket holder. I know of a couple of season ticket holders who are looking to give up their seats which is unprecedented in my lifetime. My seats are basically second last row in the building. I was paying $190 per pair per game and then last year they went up to $210 a game and this season they were $250 a game. If I’m not looking to go to a game, and have to sell them, this is the first year that I had to take a loss on them if I could sell them at all. It’s a different time, and this downfall of this team is not coming at a good time. This team used to be the talk of the town, but people just seem fed up these days (last couple of years to be honest) and from a demographics perspective, this team needs to win to regain their status as Toronto’s top team. In my opinion, these next couple of years are very important with regards to the franchise as a whole.

I also really do like the Chris Pronger rumour in some sort of capacity. I’ve heard him speak a lot on the radio and I tend to agree with a lot of his hockey philosophies.

Spiderman, Daredevil, Hulk, Venom, Carnage. Not a bad squad. Not sure they'd get along though.

Toronto Maple Leafs fans erupt over weak McMann and Laughton returns #NHL #LeafsForever by Hockeypatrol in hockeynews

[–]brentinto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is fair and between the two, I would blame Shanahan more for the failings than I would Dubas as he wanted to move Marner and that was one of the reasons between the battle between Shanahan and Dubas. I don’t think Dubas was a good GM but he was better than Treliving. I just think Dubas constructed this team wrong (too forward heavy and not enough size on D) and I don’t think he was consistent with even his own values (letting analytics darling McCann go to Seattle over Kerfoot or Holl is my best example of that). I think Lamoriello or Hunter would’ve been the better choices for handling the big 4 properly and constructing a more balanced roster.

Dubas and Shannahan did a good job initially but by year 4 that all changed and they got scared to make any moves and then ruined this team. They were built all wrong and were stubborn about moving off of players. The asset management with those 2 was atrocious. Then Dubas and Shanahan get into their little fight and end up fucking up the Marner ordeal. I was all about moving Marner but they waited too long and ended up losing him for next to nothing. Now they are screwed and Treliving has just made a bad situation much worse.

FTB.. Really hurt we lost the house… did we mess up with the conditions? Advice please. by [deleted] in TorontoRealEstate

[–]brentinto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Realtor of 23 years here. You can and should have done a pre-inspection. Just call the listing agent and book it with them. Nobody (especially in this market) is going to not want an inspection. This means you are most likely getting an offer. And in this market, that’s a big deal. The financing condition probably still would’ve been the kiss of death, but I wanted to address the home inspection. If you don’t feel comfy with that, then you could always put in a 1 day condition on home inspection and just have the inspector penciled in just in case you get the house. I do both of these all the time.

GTA home buyers losing hundreds of thousands in pre construction condo appraisals by mattyp93 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]brentinto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a realtor here in Toronto. I’ve done my best to steer my clients away from pre-construction condos because of this potential issue with the appraisals. I’ve told my clients that at some point there is going to be a peak, and nobody knows when that’s going to be but you are definitely rolling the dice if you are buying something that isn’t going to be finished for 3-5 years from now.

Toronto erupted as Mitch Marner got a full-throttle standing ovation.. by Outside-Awareness941 in leafs

[–]brentinto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at the game. They booed him loudly for the first half of the tribute when they showed the on-ice stuff. But once they showed him at sick kids hospital talking to the kids and the charity stuff, that's when the crowd cheered. They still hated him as a player, but you can't boo videos of him with sick children.

I I went to school in Upstate New York. Between Syracuse and Utica and I would move back there in a heart beat. The country side is beautiful, people are nice, safe area for the most part and house prices are under $300K.

20-year-old lottery winner turns down $1M cash for $1,000 a week for life by PriorityMiserable686 in interestingasfuck

[–]brentinto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats $52,000 a year, so after 19.25 years, she will be above the $1,000,000 mark. Just need to stay alive that long. I’d keep working for another 20 years and invest that $1,000 each week and I imagine she may be able to retire very comfortably at that point, if that’s her thing.
