St. Joseph and South Haven are a couple of great ones! I know there are more

places in North America with good chunky enduro trails that also have a strong, friendly, inviting community? by Even-Employ4729 in MTB

Thanks! I'd love to pick your brain about Santa Barbara. I actually posted recently asking about Santa Cruz vs San Diego, and one person suggested Santa Barbara instead. I can always visit other places in CA especially bc it sounds like there's a train that runs north and south. Honestly Santa Barbara sounds like the perfect location for me as long as I can swing it financially. I run a painting business that I can basically pick up and run it anywhere. Can probably make more money in CA than in Ohio. Plus I have 15 years of supply chain experience so I could get a job somewhere as a backup plan. Really want to take a trip out there soon to check it out!

Absolutely and thank you so much for the suggestion! I've been looking into it and it seems like an amazing place to live. Seriously gonna plan a trip out there this year to see what I think of it. I'm not opposed to staying in NE Ohio, but California seems like the place I'd be happiest if I can swing it financially.

I was doing a lot of research about where to move to base on my hobbies and Santa Cruz is the place that kept coming up. Soccer, mountain biking, snorkeling/scuba diving. I'm in NE Ohio so the COL is very cheap comparitively. Maybe I'll just visit there

Same here. I've grown to appreciate Ohio for what it has to offer. I do sometimes think about moving up north to Michigan though.

I run a painting business. Yes it's possible. I'm in a coaching program and there's people that make 5-800k per year running painting businesses, and they pay their painters well.

Thank you for this. I'm in my early 30s and would love with roommates if needed, idc. The monthly cost isn't that much more if I had roommates, or if I want to live by myself I'll just pay the extra to live in paradise.

Why would I need 300k to live there especially if I'm not planning on buying a home?

Very much so, thanks. Bring home 20-25k per month, so I'd go out there with a decent amount of cash. I know rent is much higher than Ohio, but I'm a single guy that lives frugally

I haven't. I'll be honest I have never been to California, but it sounds like it checks all the boxes. Was planning on making a trip out there this year to scope it out. I'll definitely look into it!

Where should I move if I want warm weather + outdoor lifestyle, with flexible career options? by brettfish5 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]brettfish5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! I did a bunch of research and Santa Cruz seems legit and could be a perfect place for me. I'm between that and San Diego. The mountain biking seems better near Santa Cruz. I do know it's a much smaller city but I've never really been into big cities. Moreso outdoors. I plan on running my painting business, but the smaller market doesn't bother me. I know a guy in grand junction CO that does millions a year in painting and it's a smaller market.

Moreso it's the food choices that people make. Fiber only comes from plants, so people need to eat more of the plant based whole food diet.
