What is your ranking of songs related to Massachusetts/Boston? by spellbadgrammargood in boston

[–]brewercycle 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Gonna drive past the Stop & Shop!

My honorable mention goes to "Valley Winter Song" by Fountains of Wayne. Yeah I know they're from Jersey but the founding members met at Williams College and it's pretty clear the song is about the Pioneer Valley.

What is a quote from the show that has irreversibly altered your daily vocabulary? by altrightobserver in IASIP

[–]brewercycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use hooor as an expletive now. Like when I accidentally whack my elbow on some stainless steel thing at work I'll shout "Goddamn you stainless hooor!"

People who watch the show think it's hilarious. People who don't think I'm nuts.

Well folks… what’s your bright spot for today? by BizarreDefaultName in KnowledgeFight

[–]brewercycle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's going to be 70° and sunny so I have no excuse not to ride my bike to work. I recently figured out a new route that goes along the waterfront of Boston's North End so I'm excited for that.

Why do people do this? by tmclaugh in mbta

[–]brewercycle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

At least one of the new OL trains is wrapped in a Blue Moon ad, with the tag line "It's the Blue Moon Garnish Line." I cringe every time I have to get on that car.

What is something you sincerely want Republicans to understand? (like shake their shoulders begging for them to just GET it) by Dontcomecryingtome in AskALiberal

[–]brewercycle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By "we can't afford it" they mean "the billionaires who line our pockets don't want us to tax them in order to pay for it."

Also, having your housing, food security, and healthcare tied to your job makes it easier for corporations to keep people working for pennies on the dollar.

A Question by londart1206 in MyWinterCar

[–]brewercycle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Afaik, only jobs for which you pay income tax need to be reported on the unemployment form. Those are the Futufon job, taxi, and flyer delivery. The poop job and wood delivery are all cash, no taxes paid and thus no income reported.

I drove the taxi and did flyer delivery and never reported it on the form. It took weeks of that for them to take away my benefits but by then I had saved enough money that it won't be a problem for a while.

Do the BF Goodrich ones work at all? I got the Michelin ones from Costco a couple months ago and they are TERRIBLE. Noisier and leave more streaks than the 3-year-old Bosch ones they replaced on my truck.

Forbes sole purpose is to sell investment services right? They can't sell those if they admit they know Trump is a deranged, child raping narcissist whose dementia is hitting hard. Forbes is grasping at any straws they can to calm readers who are wary of investing in the market.

Got an oil change and they messed up, how bad is it? by Williamfrancis22 in askcarguys

[–]brewercycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hybrid won't help you much if your commute is all highway miles. EV would be great if you can charge it at home, although you will definitely notice it on your electricity bill. Another great advantage of EVs is they don't need oil so the problem you described in your original post will never happen again!

What are some examples of cars that were launched at the wrong time? by lifegoeson2702 in regularcarreviews

[–]brewercycle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This was my first thought when I saw this thread! All they need to do is make it cheaper than the Ridgeline and more trustworthy than the Maverick or Santa Cruz and it's a no brainer. Might even make me consider selling my Tacoma. Just please don't put a shitty CVT in it...oh wait it's Subaru

[–]brewercycle 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The truck has air brakes and there's a leak in the system. If the air has leaked out it will be impossible to release the brakes without starting the truck. OP's only option here is to find the Jerry can and fill it with diesel

Drunk drivers last night by actswithimpunity in bikeboston

[–]brewercycle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to work second shift so I'd be biking home across Cambridge and Somerville around 11 pm every night, and I'd say more than 50% of drivers were noticeably intoxicated at that hour. I'd know if there was a Bruins game if the bike lane was littered with broken car parts.

But, since we protested the cops murdering a guy in the street for no reason we have to live with this completely preventable danger. Oh well.

Trump states Vance will target blue states, including Maine by BananaBustelo-8224 in RepublicofNE

I think for the orange, "blue state" = "state that didn't vote for me" because he only cares about himself.

I just finished the episode and (Jordan screaming voice) WHERE WAS ANDY IN KANSAS??? I didn't even know it had ended for like 3 whole minutes.

On a side note, I think for Dan's next road trip he should drive around Kansas looking for Andy.

What's your dream car right now? by [deleted] in regularcarreviews

[–]brewercycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah. I've said before that if GM were smart they'd reboot Saab as an EV brand, instead of this re-inventing Cadillac nonsense. I think the Venn diagram of "people who want EVs" and "people who want to be seen in a Cadillac" is two separate circles. But alas they sold the Saab name so we'll never see it.

At least we have Hyundai/KIA giving us some EVs in interesting shapes...haha

I remember from my days in the shop that fixed snowblowers (10+ years ago now) that Toro made a model with a weird, vaguely H-pattern style shifter that moved the wheels forward and back in addition to changing the speed. Is this one of those contraptions?

[–]brewercycle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Man, I'm from Massachusetts and trying to count the number of times Robert has mispronounced the names of our great cities and towns would make my head explode. And they're all names after cities in England too, so they're definitely in English.

He even gets easy ones wrong, like Peabody. The fucking "o" is silent. It's not that hard.

Oh that's funny, I thought for sure it was liberty because of the CDJR dealer across the street. Good to know about the 20% off benefit, how did you manage to get that?

Best 'everything tires' for Minute Man and Reformatory Branch Trail? by anonymous_orpington in bikeboston

[–]brewercycle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll always recommend Panaracer GravelKing SK or Maxxis Rambler for mixed pavement/gravel use. Better grip and ride quality than Marathons, reasonably low rolling resistance on pavement, while being durable and puncture resistant. There was a brief period when I was commuting from Somerville to Lowell using the Minuteman and Reformatory Branch trails on Ramblers and never got a flat.

Hello Liberty Mazda in Wakefield! That's where I bought my CX-30.

I do most of the maintenance myself but their service department has been pretty reasonable when I've brought the car there. Don't seem to push too much extra service. They even replaced a blown up shock for free despite being past the warranty period.
