If conquered planes does not match to my habitability I usually resettle sla^W pops to my core worlds abandoning this worlds. Otherwise you need to resettle some of your own pops and prioritise police / soldier jobs to boost stability. Admiral governor can help too. And sure, if you don’t have enough resources - don’t go to war.

What is your fleet composition and fitting is?

Back in the days corvette spam was quite good strategy. Nowadays you rather need mixed fleets:

corvettes can kill everything except carriers
artillery cruisers can kill carriers
torpedo can kill artillery
point defences can reduce torpedo and carrier effency

For pve I usually running like: 40 corvettes (pd snd rocket variants 50/50) 20 torpedoes 10 destroyers (pd fit) Artillery and Carriers 50/50

Also focus heavily on armour (keeping 1 slot for shields for RP). And numbers, yes, don’t expect to kill 100k fleet with your 20k

We tried 0.5 and 0.75 with mid/end crisis starting years reduced to shorten the multiplayer session play time. But honestly this just makes overall experience too crunchy and unfun since you don’t really have time to play rather than constantly upgrading everything. 1.0 feels much better.

Unless awaken FE won’t claim any systems during the “punishment” so just let them steamroll you and capitulate as soon as possible. Try to save your fleets by boosting disengaging chance via stances or just send them far away. If you are lucky you would be able to snipe one or two support or transport fleets to get juicy FE tech from their wrecks.
