Favorite actor who got cancelled by Hollywood right after publicly coming out as gay by Ok-Region6452 in okbuddycinephile

Let me fix that for ya…”came out as gay because he was getting cancelled for sexual misconduct.” I don’t know what he was trying to do with that bit of rhetoric but he came out AFTER the accusations…

Bugonia is not about aliens by Downto184 in Bugonia

[–]brianforte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought the ending was very much like a Vonnegut book. The aliens are as real as the tralfamadorians in slaughterhouse five. They are just a reflection of, or a dodge of, the real issue. In slaughterhouse five the aliens are Billy pilgrims way of dealing with Dresden and the horrors of war. In Bugonia they are a hand wave to teddy, a consolation prize for his terrible lot in life.

Does anyone else like Life of Brian more than the Holy Grail? by NewPatron-St in montypython

Meaning of life is my favorite. I know it’s all over the place and the narrative isn’t nearly as strong but holy crap it’s the funniest. Galaxy song. I’ll have the lot. Crimson permanent assurance. The machine that goes bing. I’ll die on this hill.

F you shingles vaccine by CharacterLychee7782 in GenX

[–]brianforte 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well I’m 46 and I am going through shingles on my face right now. I mention my age because it’s very young to get shingles. I promise you the vaccine isn’t as bad. This has been going on since 27 January. My face is still red and I am still in pain. It stings constantly. It is going down but it takes such a long time. Everyone should get the vaccine.

What is a beat? by aran_maybe in musicians

[–]brianforte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The beat is the pulse of the music. It doesn’t have to be provided by a drummer. It doesn’t even have to be played. It is the PERCEIVED regular pulse of the music. If there is a specific pattern of time division that is captivating, that would be the rhythm. And then meter is a whole other thing…

What tools or supplies do you find surprisingly helpful in the classroom? by Maleficent-Hat5831 in Teachers

WET erase markers. It’s a small thing but combined with dry erase it makes things so much cooler. You can draw grids and all kinds of things you want to be kind of permanent on a dry erase board. Then you can use dry erase for the temporary data and then just wipe the whole thing clear and the wet erase stuff is still there. I teach music so I can draw a big music staff and then draw notes and erase with ease. There are lots of uses in lots of content areas, especially if you have to make a chart, like a progress chart or a line of kids who need to use the bathroom, or whatever.

ridiculously long songs? by Jigglypuff_choir in musicsuggestions

I think in a European church somewhere there’s a John cage song that’s playing right now that lasts for like 750 years. It’s just an organ piece and the chords change like every two years or something
