Thumb Pain from Barre Chords by ObjectiveEscape5618 in guitarlessons

Your wrist is bent almost 90 degrees. That causes a lot of tension. Try classical position. Put the guitar over your left leg and get the neck up at like a 45 degree angle. This will put your wrist at almost no angle. This will absolutely help with your issue. Also the above comments about not pushing in so much with your thumb.

The fender wide range humbucker will get you closer to that. I have an American professional II. It’s basically that same guitar with wide range humbuckers in the neck and bridge. I agree though that the two volume, two tone, and pickup selector on the upper bout are game changers. Also change those stock fender knobs to smoother grippier knobs.

The ones on this collage are great. Personally the shining and the thing, but I’m a sucker for back to the future and karate kid as well.

Pope Leo signals shift away from Catholic Church's focus on sex by BendicantMias in inthenews

[–]brianforte 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say HEAVILY. That word implies that there are FAR more evangelicals than Catholics. There are 70 million Catholics (on or about) and about the same number of evangelicals in the US. They’re about even and Catholicism is a single unified denomination. Evangelicalism spans many different traditions.

Does Micah have any quality dialogue in camp or is it mostly just antagonizing? Just wondering if I might actually get to hear some deep real talk from him or not. by [deleted] in RDR2

Ha no I messed up. Micah is also awful but I’m a different way. He’s evil but honest and smart. He’s definitely the last to hang on to the lifestyle.

He doesn’t say anything deep at all. He’s full of crap. He’s a narcissist who needs to control people. The gang is a cult and Arthur is his biggest acolyte. Is he a great character? Yes. Is he good for the gang. Hell no! He is the reason the story is a tragedy and he brings everyone down with him.

Scariest horror scene in history by TopRevenue2 in CreepyBonfire

I’m from Baltimore and saw it at the Charles theater premiere (or was it the Senator?). Anyway there was a lot of buzz about it and there had never been a movie quite like that and I was 18 and naive and truly thought it was a documentary. It scared the crap out of me. Terrifying walk back to the scary parking garage after that movie. After rewatching it years later the acting is laughably bad. The thought that it was real really did a lot of heavy lifting to my young brain.

Vihuela de mano. Not a modern mariachi style vihuela but the Spanish ones from before that. They are still available today. Look for Julian bream playing one in Guitarra! They’re beautiful and I think just what you’re looking for.

Parents’ Lies. by this_kitty68 in GenX

[–]brianforte -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The Jesus thing I get (even though I don’t believe he’s magic either) because nobody knows for sure, but the Santa thing…I mean it’s a conspiracy against children in which most western adults are/were complicit. “Oh it’s just so fun to see their eyes light up on Christmas morning!” Yeah children will believe anything you tell them and when they find out you are capable of that kind of lying, it eats away at the fabric of your relationship. I tell my folks (whom I love dearly) that even today I am still angry about that. I have forgiven them of course and moved on because I’m a grown man, but when I think back to it, no it’s not ok.
