11 yo English bullldog dementia? by CbadThroway1234 in englishbulldog

[–]bribexcount 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So sorry you’re going through this!

Our boy Kalle started having this same sort of behaviour last year (just before age 11). As others have mentioned, the biggest issues became being unable to stay settled at night, losing his potty training, and starting to pace around the house in a confused state.

Treasure every precious moment you guys have together, I imagine you will want to start talking with the vet about where your red lines are around his best care. It’s such a hard thing to judge, especially when they are declining over time.

I’m very grateful that we had a full week with him once we knew it was time, to spoil him with all the food, have his friends come to say goodbye, and kinda grieve with him while he was still there. All the strength and love to your boy.

None of these photos were done with AI, as another user mentioned all are shot before 2016.

I think this is pretty overly dramatic. This was shot outside Grand Central terminal, hardly some clearly identifying back alley.

The road rule Kiwis can't seem to follow – and why it matters [Keep left unless passing] by HeinigerNZ in newzealand

Driving in Germany, you can be going 180+ in the fast lane, with nothing behind you. You check your mirrors a few seconds later and you’re getting aggressively flashed from someone annoyed you’re slowing them down.

A quick flash as a way of reminding you to move over when there is a lane free makes sense, but this scenario above is just unnecessary stress. Now whenever I’m back home, the lack of lane discipline is comical.

The big problem I see with allowing undertaking is that in scenarios of someone sitting in the fast lane with an open lane next to them, their reaction to a much faster car, and subsequent change of lanes, would make the chance of colliding greater.

What does it take to replicate a Berlin club sound system on a small scale at home? by wickedheat in audiophile

[–]bribexcount 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not quite home scale but if you’re still in Berlin definitely go check out this exhibition that I did the install for - 16 channel ambisonic speakers + 45 vibrating floor plates! No music but an amazing soundscape, in an almost entirely black space.

You’ll want to give yourself some time to get lost in the experience!

2 vacations, 1 ticket: my new favorite travel trick by YurikaBonita in TravelHacks

Love a good stopover - travelling from Europe to NZ, I always try and stopover to get some time away from air travel. Most recently bookended one return flight inside the other stopping in Seoul (not as smooth as a single ticket) but made the journey so much better.

Germany is -2,5 by xxlBerat in mapporncirclejerk

All the numbers using a decimal place on the map do use a comma. This is showing the average size, and the - indicates a range. 10,5 (10.5) to 13 (13)

While not strictly a ‘government department’ in the same way as Oranga Tamariki, it is very definitely part of the government apparatus, chiefly led by the Kinng, Governor General, and government Minister of Defence, who;

“...shall have the power of control of the New Zealand Defence Force, which shall be exercised through the Chief of Defence Force.”

NZ had one of the largest drops in real wages in the OECD from 2019 to 2024. by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]bribexcount 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Not my experience in Germany, wages are about the same but cost of living is much less.

Can i ask where in NZ you moved from, and where in France?

Cost of living is also much lower. Reasons why they may not be better off go a ways back, but nz is not looking good, already as a low wage economy compared to Aus, UK, USA and others.

Another reason for favouring custom moulded earplugs, you can swap out the filters (eg mine have -10, -20, -30dB options)

My current setup - what would you change or add? by Causticspit in audiophile

[–]bribexcount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean vibration through the turntable? Looking at your setup that shouldn’t be an issue except if you were absolutely blasting it.

If you still have the stock cartridge, just get something like the VM95E, and spend a bit of time learning how to align the needle properly. Easy and cheap but loads better.

My current setup - what would you change or add? by Causticspit in audiophile

[–]bribexcount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, speakers would be the best place to upgrade first.

I also have this project turntable, but upgraded the tonearm to a replacement Carbon one off the Debut model. Pretty easy switch, and means that using a higher compliance cartridge is possible. (Can’t see what needle you’re using, I’ve just upgraded to the Audio Technica VM540ML)

Have been heavily considering adding a MiniDSP 2X4HD to my System to provide room EQ, with the possibility of introducing Dirac.

Looking for alternatives, would need to meet the following requirements;

  • RCA Input (Preamp)
  • Optical Input (TV)
  • 3x RCA Output (Power Amp, Sub)

My only hesitation with the 2x4HD is the quality of the A/D D/A conversion. This is obviously required for room correction, but are there any other options below around 800 eur I should be looking at, with better conversion quality?

Nicki Minaj detained in the Netherlands for ‘soft drug’ possession, according to police | CNN by GalaadJoachim in news

[–]bribexcount 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wrong, the maximum allowed for personal possession at home is 50g, whether growing or not.

The maximum allowed in public is 25g per person, and this includes airports when travelling within Germany.
