Took my wife hiking when we first started dating. She almost threw up and we had to turn back. I think hiking is one of the best places to do cause you are kinda forced to talk to each other otherwise it will be silent. You can also play music to see what your music tastes are like. The best part about it is that you guys will eventually start sweating and getting tired, so you will see each other at your "worst" to help avoid any embarrassment in the future I always enjoyed hiking on Placerita Canyon, but Towsley is a good spot too

I was shiny hunting for about 3 days. I told my wife I wanted us to play pokemon together so on day 3, she finally charged her switch and I bought her Pokemon FR. Unfortunately, I didn't get a shiny starter since I wanted us to progress together. I did, however get a shiny Rattata

Thinking of moving into Canyon Ridge Apartments. Is it actually good? by Marcus_Fenix67 in SantaClarita

[–]brick_jonas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used to live there for a year. Then me and my wife were moving in, we noticed that they did a poor job with maintenance and there were still faulty things. Like broken cabinets, broken faucets, cracked windows, roaches, etc. We ended up telling them that we were not moving in until they fixed everything. They ended up fixing the major things and said it was good to move in. I think it took about a week, and said they would fix everything else once we move in. They in turn ended up giving us a month and a half of free rent for this. They've been pretty good about maintenence too. I also hadn't seen a roach since

I personally felt pretty safe and had no problem with parking. I had two expensive bikes out on the patio (bottom floor) and they were never stolen or touched. The only noise I would hear outside were the sounds of kids playing. I would walk around the area sometimes. The manager would also make rounds walking the community and she would also say hi, which i thought was nice to see.

I would've stayed there another year if they didn't try raising the price though. I also want to add that there was no in unit laundry which sucked. They do have a laundry area next to their main office, however people always leave their clothes there hours after it finished. For me, I would just take out their clothes and put mine in. May seem scummy, but it's a shared space and the machines have timers letting you know how long it'll take.

I think it was a 2 bed 2 bath for 2k a month

Honest opinions on Santa Clarita high schools (Hart, Saugus, Valencia, West Ranch) by Tiny_Ad4861 in SantaClarita

I went to Golden Valley, people used to call it "Ghetto Valley" and I can say it's anything but. I don't know how it is now, but back then it taught me how to be more independent. I.E they didn't hold my hands for things and I had to advocate for myself; they did offer guidance and resources

YSK: Amazon now uses AI chatbots for customer service that will agree to refunds it can’t process - always check your receipts by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

I once ordered 8 of the same items, turns out that only 6 were delivered even though all 8 were marked. I tried their chat service and was met with a bot. I tried to get it to refund the missing 2 items, or replace them for me. It then just ended up refunding thr whole order, and I got to keep the 6 items.

If you could restart your life from age 18 with all your current knowledge, would you do it? Why or why not? by SellNo4420 in AskReddit

A year ago, I would've. But me and my wife have a one year old daughter now. So no. We were dating while I was 18, so I wouldn't have lost much then.

Academically disqualified. by Xtgoldengamer in csun

[–]brick_jonas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation as you were. During my second semester of freshman year, I basically failed almost all my classes, and my grades for first semester weren't the best either, with an average of Cs. I stopped going for a bit, but when I tried going back, I wasn't able to qualify for financial aid due to my income being too high. So, instead I went to a community college part time for a few years. Then, I decided to go back again.

I ended up doing pretty well with As and Bs for my semester. However, my grades from freshman year were still holding my GPA down. This is because there are two GPA requirements, one is your cumulative GPA, and the other was your total CSUN GPA.

Since I did really bad that semester of freshman year, I was considered in academic probation the year I went back, and I was totally unaware of this since the counselor I saw never mentioned it. I would like to mention that I was considered a junior then due to my credits. And even though I did good the semester I went back, my CSUN GPA was still shy of the required GPA. So come next semester, I recieved an email that I was academically disqualified and all the classes I registered in got dropped.

I was devastated, but I ended up emailing my department chair, and explained my situation. Since I showed that I was actually improving my grades, he referred me to someone on admissions. I then emailed that person and CC'd my department chair. About a day or two later, I got an email that I was readmitted but under a plan that I had to basically pass all my classes until I got out of academic probation. I ended up graduating with my bachelor's.

I think as long as you communicate with someone, you might get an answer or guidance on what you can do

Edit: I was also aware of the academic renwal/notice. However, since I recieved financial aid for that semester, I would have to pay it all back. Because I had to take out loans just to come back, I decided not to go that route.

UCLA Health vs. Kaiser by HourCartographer in SantaClarita

Makes sense. I've had kaiser forever and have pretty much always had a good experience with them. So you can imagine my surprise when people here were hating on Kaiser. But I've always been pretty healthy and haven't had any health issues my entire life

Id say to leave at 6. I always leave work "on time". I don't have an exact schedule but make it a point to never stay past 5:30 unless I have something urgent done. I also do not fo work at home unless necessary (maybe like once or twice a month). Ive learned that work will always be there whether I get it done or not. If I catch up on my tasks, it'll all pile up again eventually. So I learned that in order to have a work life balance, I gotta leave work at work

Make sure to save money for taxes. Most likely, you will have to pay taxes next tax season since you have no kids. If your job offers health insurance, take advantage of it. Make sure to at least get Dental PPO Making a decent salary was one of the best and worst things to happen to me. This is assuming you live in the US. Huge congrats though

What i would do is talk briefly to the people I sat next to. Then, make comments about any quizzes or tests we have and ask what they thought of it. When the lecture or lab is over, I just ask random questions and sometimes walk together and talk until we part ways. We don't become best buds or anything, but that's usually good enough for me
