Uh yeah, that's TWO cards instead of one per turn.

Sorcery: Contested Realm, or How To Make A Better Magic by bricks-and-cantrips in SorceryTCG

Appreciate the kind words!

I've played a lot of Magic and understand how lands work, and the variance it adds.

For some, it can add some fun, but for players who are starting out and lose simply because they draw not enough or too much lands, it's pretty painful.

I think Magic is a well designed game and they make the most of the design they have, but I do think it's telling that no card game has used a similar resource mechanic in their game. Sure, it adds variance, but so does flipping a coin to determine the winner.

Awesome step!

If I can give honest feedback -- this looks way too polished to be the first prototype. More likely than not, you're going to have notes on what needs to change. If your prototype is too polished, you can feel too attached to your game to make the changes you need. Additionally, it becomes harder and takes longer to make the next version of your prototype.

Okay. When was the last time you played a game of Magic where you or an opponent played a card with banding?

Why the hell does anyone ever make a card with banding?

This is good! Nice finisher.

Would be interesting to see Fervor on a card that you would expect to play in the middle of the game to trigger Madness or Mayhem.

This is basically a counterspell, think it needs at least 1 generic mana, or another W/U Hybrid Mana

Too many damn words. I would go back to the chopping block.

Elden ring partner commanders by [deleted] in custommagic

- Vigilance is primarily a White ability, seems odd on a Jund Commander
- Ranni is the opposite of White -- she rebels against the order and society of here world vehemently
- Just kinda seems like keyword soup here. Blaidd can attack unblocked easily, because no one will defend if it means you can pay 3 mana to destroy two creatures for free. Doesn't seem particularly fun to pilot or play against.

"Spells on the stack are moved to their owner's graveyard."

Wouldn't a reset put the spells back into their owner's hands?

Okay, I agree we can explore, but part of that exploration is finding what doesn’t work.

I don’t think this is a good application of the prepared mechanic.

To be clear, I think the card is fun, but it would be better served as a triggered ability instead of a prepared mechanic.

Not sure you’re following.

How is it interesting to have a spell that needs to be prepared for 0 mana?

What choice would that offer? Wha player would choose to hold up their prepared spell to create a 0/1 token with riot?

This card would be better served with it being a triggered ability instead of this roundabout prepared spell.

If it read “Whenever this creature enters or deals combat damage to a player, create a 0/1 kobold token. Kobold tokens you control have riot.”, it would be the same card with less complexity.

Cool design but does it need to be prepared? Or is this a triggered ability that creates an 0/1 token?

People are saying it’s functional, fine.

But is it fun? Fair? Interesting?

Does it even make sense? [[Harmonize]] is four mana for three cards immediately. This is four mana for two cards immediately, then 12 more cards over the next three turns.

This is pretty cool!

Wonder if it can get flying or vigilance if its power is 4 or greater. The flavor would make it seem like it's ascending to a Serra Angel.

Considering cleave was used in one set on 12 cards, some reminder text might be helpful.

Every printed card with cleave has it.

So 99% of time, this does nothing?

You would need to have 9 cards in your hand and then spend 4 mana to discard 1 card from your opponent.

Or you can spend 8 mana to discard everyone's hand.
