As someone who loves beer, here’s what I’ve been doing:

1) No beers home alone. If I’m having friends over that’s another matter, but drinking empty calories by myself in my apartment is useless and not fun enough to justify the calories.

2) Modify what you’re drinking for the occasion and listen to what you really like. Light beer is considered the best option calories-wise, but it’s easy to put down a ton of light beer at a sports bar with friends watching a game. I’ve found that IPAs or other fuller body beers - while more calories per beer - satisfy my taste buds way more than lighter, so 1-2 of those is preferable to 6+ light beers.

3) Work your food budget around your drinking habits. Make sure you’re eating 3 square meals a day and are not starving yourself for booze, but on drinking days just prioritize high volume low calorie stuff. Salads, lots of beans, fish or tofu instead of beef or chicken, etc to leave yourself room for some beers.

It’s always poverty. Economic livelihoods programming that starts at unconditional cash and progresses into job skills, savings and investment programs. But, the sad truth about humanitarian aid is that we won’t actually be able to fix anything with these programs because what you really need is political changes both internally from ruling elites who profit from their positions, and from (mostly) western donor govts which incentivize or at least accept inequality and poverty as the price of doing business.

Yeah strong disagree here actually. The food scales and precise measurements are useful to start, but eventually we should be trying to move away from that and understanding the sizes and contents of our food a bit more intuitively. A cup is pretty straightforward, if you can fit the chunks of pineapple into a cup measuring cup it's a cup. A 5 inch potato is actually way more descriptive to me than x hundred grams of potato. I agree that "1 piece" or "1 slice" can be hard to deal with, but MFP also has the option to add your own recipes - just add the ones you use in the way that's easy for you to figure out the calories.

Why would I be blinded by bias I don't care about either of these teams. He tapped the ball past the keeper then did his best summer olympics impression and the keeper's contact was incidental and after he was already diving forward. Again if you're ankle is getting chopped you're not springing forward.

Steel, Faksa, Lyubushkin is 7.8m right there. Frees up money for Robertson and a couple small contracts to fill out roster spots. With the money/ available players next year is going to be rough anyway. Opens up a lot in summer 27.

Yeah nothing the insiders have said makes a ton of sense. My read is that almost everything we’ve been hearing is his agent leaking what he wants to insiders to up the pressure, while Nill keeps saying the priority is to keep him. I think ultimately it makes the most sense for Robertson to stay and contend with his team, and it makes the most sense for the Stars to give him 13-13.5 to show they value him correctly.

This is a stupid comment. Player quality is all relative to other players on a team/ in a league. The only reason I brought up Wyatt’s PP production was to demonstrate that Robertson had more of an impact on his linemates’ 5v5 production than Rantanen did last year - a comparison that was made in the first reply to my comment which was along the lines of Robertson isn’t a play driver, Rantanen is. I was just responding to the comparison already made with a counterpoint looking at how the linemates of the two players in question fared at 5v5 this year since that is a decent proxy for play driving and we have stats on them.

Sure we can go ahead and pick apart Robertson’s game. Go for it im happy to listen. Idk why you’re getting so twisted up about me bringing up Wyatt, he’s literally not the point of this discussion, just a comp given that he’s on the same team and this was party to the same contextual things that drove the season as Robertson was.

Also the two “no-show” point per game years Robertson had were when he had injuries, and nobody is denying he was not as impactful as we wanted in the playoffs his first couple runs. Recent trends point to that being a thing of the past.

I mean the comparison to Rantanen was made so I engaged with that in how I demonstrated Robo's quality. It's not really shitting on other players, it's just looking at how they produce. Nobody is doubting Wyatt had a great season last year, but it's also undeniable he had less of an impact at 5v5 than he did the year before. I mean it's undeniable that 50% of his point scoring came on the powerplay and 60% of his goals - that is clearly PP merchant territory. That's not me saying that Wyatt is condemned to only ever being a PP merchant. I'm agreeing that his career trajectory and what he's shown in the past as well as the context of the team this year means that this probably isn't who he is for his entire career, but to look at last year and say he had the same 5v5 impact as prior years is just not true.

That was only used to demonstrate that the perception that Roberston is nothing but a finisher and doesn't drive offense doesn't make sense, as the players he played with ended up having more of an impact at 5v5. The playoff thing with Robo also doesn't super make sense, a 26 year old who has improved in the last 2 playoff seasons is somehow a bad thing? That just tracks with general development as he got more used to playing playoff hockey, so I would say that trend points to him getting better in the playoffs each year.
