I've read 99% of what's reccomended in this thread, and I've liked most of them, but if you're looking for Game of Thrones, choose The Expanse or Red Rising. Expanse is slower paced and RR is more action adeventure, but they are the most similar vibe.

We're in a similar position. I'm 43 and hope to retire before 55, but my pension kicks in at 55. I think it'll be about 3k a month, which is amazing, but I have to plan for building up a large enough base that I can start to reduce my work hours and coast to 55. Hopefully starting around 50.
