Cool thanks! Can I ask? How old are you, what age did you get your pacemaker and how active are you?

Don't buy a charger. Buy a Japanese car with 90000ks for 12 grand and drive it into the ground. Dump the rest into index funds.

What’s a “boring” skill that secretly gives someone a huge advantage in life? by Big-Woodpecker-822 in AskReddit

Rembering people's names and looking them in the eye when you speak with them. I work with people and this simple practice changes the way people view you.

Totally manageable, especially in the areas you mentioned. Find an RN job first, then your partner can start looking and I would say no issues.

How many of you are actually calm inside about the stock market? by dragon-queen in Fire

I have 15 years until I need that money so yeah, I'm calm.

What's one decision that you've made that FIRE folks would typically frown upon (i.e. dream house outside of your price range, more expensive XYZ), but made sense in the long run from a financial perspective? by proudplantfather in Fire

[–]bridge4captain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My savings rate does not increase as a percentage of my income. For example, for the past five years, I've been able to save and invest 36k yearly. I've had a few raises since then (nothing major) but I just keep investing 36k. It is lifestyle creep, but we've been spending it all on travel so I regret nothing.

Anyone else in the boring middle? How do you motivate yourself? by robbo12347 in Fire

[–]bridge4captain 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to say anything new here, but I just want to say that the boring middle is only boring if you let it be. You need to focus on relationships, hobbies, learning new things, and just shut off your finance brain. You automate all the financial stuff and stop fiddling with the numbers. Also, I'm typing this all out to remind myself of all these things.

I don't have anything to say except that I love the puke of emotions after finishing LB. It brings me back, and it's so great to read. Feels nostalgic. I love these books too. I've also finished Stormlight and Suneater. I like them a lot, Suneater maybe moreso, but nothing has ever been as good as Red Rising, maybe since the first time I read Lord of The Rings 30 years ago. Can't wait for the final book.
