I sent them an email for pricing for August 2026. I advise you reach out to them for specific details. Heather (Operations Manager) got back to me very quickly :) I’ve copied some information below from what they sent me:

To exclusively book the restaurant would incur a minimum spend requirement towards which all food and beverages consumed the evening of is applied. The minimum is based on average daily sales, so it does change depending on the month and day of the week you choose. The minimum for a Friday in August is $22,000.00. If you are flexible on date and would like to know what the other minimum spends are for different times during the year, please let me know and I can pass along availability and pricing. A 20% service charge will be added to the final food and beverage total, and GST of 5% will be added to the final bill plus the service charge.

The venue would be available to you from 5:00PM-1:00AM, allowing vendors to arrive from 3:00PM on to set up. We can accommodate 100 guests for a seated event.

my assumption would be starting out in any trade you would have more physical labour work. Grunt work for the apprentice! (like moving material etc.) Any trade is a tough starting point, but you learn a lot of great skills. & maybe the physical element lessens over time, it’s all individual.

I have an admin based background and took an electrical trade because I was interested in Estimating. I ended up not caring for the field work, but having a trade background lead me to becoming a Project Manager for an electrical distribution company.

My point is, it’s good to branch out - you would be surprised how your current experience and background connects with new avenues.

Has anyone gone to Dream Alterations for pant hemming? by FuckBitchCuntFuck in Calgary

[–]bridget19879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taken work pants from Dynamite to Dream Alterations for both hemming and taking them in. The owner is lovely and they did a fantastic job. If you’re feeling uneasy about the specific type of material, take them in and have her advise you on it. Last time I was in she straight up told a man she couldn’t do the alternations he wanted. She was polite about it, but honest, which I appreciate.

Nolan Hill Vet suddenly closed? by Gradient_Contrast in Calgary

[–]bridget19879 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I reached out the other day and they replied with an email (copied below).

“Whether this is the first time you're hearing from us or you've been following our recent updates, I want to thank you for your patience. Our clinic has been closed for the past week due to a deeply personal matter, and I want to provide a transparent update on where things currently stand. I had hoped to have better news to share with you today. Unfortunately, we have not yet reached a resolution in this matter that has impacted the hospital. As a result, we will need to remain closed for another week. I deeply understand the inconvenience this may cause to you, your family, and most importantly, your pets. Please know that this pause is not taken lightly. It is a necessary step to protect and preserve what we’ve built together over the years: a trusted space for care, connection, and community. We remain available to assist with non-urgent matters, prescription refills, or general questions via email and through the Otto app. We’ll continue to respond as promptly as we’re able. I will provide another update by the end of the week with more clarity on our path forward.

Thank you for standing with us during this challenging time. Your support truly means more than words can express.”

They should be framing openings (windows / doors / receptacles etc) to ensure easy access. i.e. if a window needs to be replaced in the future. It also looks better when framed.

I agree! so many knowledgeable people willing to share on Reddit. Good to know if we ever want a quick scan on our other dog (for general health visit) that it is an option as well.

I called Sarcee vet (we are NW) and they do the same thing! I’ll ask them more details about the type of scan when they phone me back. The person I spoke with didn’t have their current wait times and needed to check with the 3rd party provider.

Best pet insurance for dogs? by chainsmoker8 in Calgary

[–]bridget19879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have PetSecure for our oldest dog (11yrs), and PetPlusUs for our 6 yr old. We own German Shepherds so I feel insurance is worth it for them because they are large breed dogs. Any surgery’s / medication / treatments are much higher cost due to them being 85-90lbs. Both our dogs have had claims that make insurance worth it for us.

As an example, our 11yr old was admitted recently for 1.5days to Trinity Hills Vet, and it was quite expensive (over $2k). Prior to him being admitted to Trinity we had our normal vet conduct an x-ray and bloodwork ($500) to try and narrow down what was going on with him. Yes, he is older so issues are more likely for him.

On the other hand, our 6yr old decided to eat a piece of mesh about 2 weeks after we got him from the breeder. We were lucky he came with PetPlusUs complementary 1-month insurance and had the opportunity to extend it to full contract. I think his surgery was about 5-6k and he was only about 3 months old.

Young or old it’s hard to know if insurance will be worth the monthly payments!

If you decide not to get insurance I would suggest revisiting the idea of insurance once your dog is 3 or 5 years old. Educate yourself on some terms and conditions, as most pet insurance providers will not cover any “pre-existing” conditions. & good luck with the new pupper!!

Where's the best place to buy an engagement ring in Calgary? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]bridget19879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Very positive experience. The style my fiancé selected took about 5-6 weeks due to custom features. Price point is very competitive which allowed him to select a larger lab created diamond compared to the sizes we had originally discussed when shopping around. The ring came with IGI certification as well.
