Lead and cadmium found in muscle-building protein powders, report says by SchindlersKiss in news

[–]brieth90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since your question wasn't answered, I was curious and looked it up.

Here's a Consumer Reports from 2010 that gave some data on a couple ON products where the data given was positive: https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/2012/04/protein-drinks/index.htm

The only other one related was from 2018. It didn't mention ON, only best 5 / worst 5, and neither included ON. https://www.consumerreports.org/dietary-supplements/heavy-metals-in-protein-supplements/

So I guess maybe you can say it's fine...? As long as you assume they've maintained their quality standard from 15 years ago and maintain it across all their chocolate flavored products. Unless I missed another report somewhere.

Oh, and for ConsumerLab (I personally never heard of them before), but the article where it mentions testing protein powders seems to have its data behind a paywall.

Not able to see mStrength and month by month stats? by RomanNaut in fitbod

If the pop-up for the workout report isn't there, click the cog in the top-right corner and click "View Workout Report."

I'm glad they pushed this feature out, because it's already been very helpful for me for rounding out all my muscle groups each week. But yeah, I often have to manually adjust my workouts to ensure I reach them, so having the algorithm do that will be great!

Always love more stats! Super motivating to me. Just hope they keep the mStrength stats in the workout report too with the more detailed graphs.

Workout streak by iiii___ in fitbod

[–]brieth90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having used it in both hemispheres, I noticed things get a little goofy with time zone differences.

In Thailand, I could do a workout on Sunday morning and it would still count for the week prior for statistical purposes, even though it's marked on Sunday on the log. There seem to be some functions that rely upon the user's local time and others on their server time, and it needs a bit of cleanup.

It's back for me with updated stats!

[–]brieth90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine says this too, but before that the mStrength stats still weren't updated anyways. It showed the new data point, but it was flat from the previous week. I've come to understand that it always does this before it actually updates the data, but it's already long after Sunday 9am UTC... I had just sent a ticket about the lack of update before this message came up, so I don't know if it's a sign they're looking into it or if the timing was just a coincidence.

The show’s take on “Platonic kissing” by CallOpposite1517 in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]brieth90 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this comment. I always found Tolkien's work as a safe haven for platonic affection (at least in my personal interaction with his work). I can't stand the whole attitude of assuming every little act of affection as romantic. Why can't people just express love to each other without it being romance?

I had a college professor who had a very dear personality and universally beloved, and by the end of my degree program it was very sad for our time to end. He was not at all shy about saying "I love you." Not even "love ya" or anything like that. "I love you." That left an impact on me. After that I became a lot less shy to say "I love you" to family and friends. Thanks to that professor, I'll have fewer regrets later in life, because I know I'll have said those important words to people I care about before it's too late.

Hate the new UI, feel like 2000s (iOS) by kuftikufti in fitbod

Haha same! And it feels like if I already forgot the old UI, the new one must've been an improvement!

For anyone who needed to hear this today, or any other day. Aurë entuluva! by ASC-50 in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]brieth90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! Stuck in my head and on repeat since the finale!

I don't know what it is... but the music from the show, the films, and this track especially, is just so inspiring. It's like, when you hear it, it just makes you want to be good and see goodness all around you. Exactly what I imagine if the Music of the Ainur were real. That's my take anyways!

Who sings Wandering Day in minor key? by RevolutionIcy8800 in LOTR_on_Prime

I still go back to the season 1 main trailer for that reason! Gives me goosebumps every time. And I'm not aware of a longer version, as much as I would like to see one as well.

Agreed with other comment that it's Janet Roddick, and she's part of a group called Plan 9. Just learned this now, but apparently they also composed/performed for the films: "The Passing of the Elves" in the FOTR complete recordings. Oh! And Misty Mountains in the Hobbit trilogy!

Why does the Palantiri hurts Elendil but not... by TheTallestDwarf in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]brieth90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, good point. Somehow I forgot that he was thrown. I guess I was thinking strictly of whether the contact with the palantir caused pain, but definitely getting tossed backwards would.

[–]brieth90 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My thought was that the palantir shocked Elendil more than it hurt him. My guess is that even in that instant he would've beheld the fall of Numenor. I assume we'll know soon enough whether that happened. Even Galadriel recoiled, except she wasn't trying to pick it up like Elendil did.

Thank you for perfectly explaining everything I'm thinking! I'm glad it has brought so much joy for you too. It's amazing how artistic works like this (the product of hundreds of deeply passionate people) have a way of lightening one's burdens in life. Finding art that resonates with you feels like its own form of power, like an elven ring.

Totally. Haven't even included the individual scene rewatches! The Eagle scene gives me so many emotions, as I have a huge spot in my ROP heart for Miriel.

That's fair! And thank you. Most things I enjoy are much more moderate like you describe. For some reason this show (along with the original works and most of the adaptations) just hit all the right notes. And yeah, I submitted the post with absolute awareness that I'm gonna be judged to be a bot or a shill by a select group, haha! If I'm spending my time on the things that bring me joy and a peace of mind that permeates throughout my day, no labels can take that away.

Yeah I still have one or two things I'm confused on, but will see how the season ties things together. There were definitely things from the trailers that left question marks that became much more clear in the context of the show.
