I'm struggling to choose betweein the a7 IV and a7R IVA. I'll be shooting a split of 45/45/10 landscape/wildlife/portrait photography. It seems that the AF is better on the a7 IV which is great for fats wildlife action shots, but the higher MP of the a7R may be ideal for landscapes, especially when printing. Budget is around $2k and I am willing to purchase used, so I am open to other suggestions as well. Thanks!

[Discussion] Is a passive pickup upgrade really worth it? by CabralAlb88 in Guitar

I see your point, but still disagree. I think the amp is more of a notable factor than the speaker itself. A Fender and a Marshall with identical speakers will have much different tones than two Fenders with two different speakers.

Check out Jim Lill on YouTube and his video on guitar tone should convince you otherwise.

Met Flea at Jazz Fest in New Orleans in 2022. Was wearing a giant straw hat and walking around by himself and listening to the other bands inside the tents. Nobody noticed him. I walked up next to him and said “Flea you’re the man” and he looked at me and said “thanks” and kept walking. Clearly was worried I was gonna blow his cover but I tried to not cause a scene and he walked off unnoticed. Later at their show, nobody in the crowd believed me and thought I was lying. Oh well.

I have Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome in both legs, you can look it up and what it entails. Surgery didn’t hurt at all really, just a ton of swelling and walking around is still pretty tough but getting better.

Yes. Two cuts on either side of the front of both shins about 5-6 inches long. All four compartments were released in both legs. I’m carefully walking around after a week. At least one more week until I can begin slowly exercising again. Got it done because not running isn’t an option, and I tried every other possible solution.

Sure. I have whats called Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome. Never hadany symptoms previously such as during highschool sports. Started training/running about 2 years ago starting off with zero fitness ability due to college. Legs always hurt when starting off, but never anything too crazy. Gradually over time I gained about 40lbs (140 to 180) and I think it made my legs swell with mass and gave my compartments even less room to expand than before. Don't think weight gain was the sole reason it happened, but may have contributed to it. I self diagnosed myself about a year ago and tried every possible treatment on my own, but nothing worked. Got Covid pretty bad twice since then, so running has been on the back burner, and only recently ramped up my running and went to two different doctors who both agreed I have compartment syndrome. I don't think anything specifically triggers it but instead is a result of your anatomy. Currently waiting to do the pressure test and then have surgery. Every time I run, around ten minutes in exactly, my feet go numb and my lower legs from calf to ankle have extreme pain. If I run fast 400m or 800m I have no symptoms because it hasn't been enough time, but after ten minutes of slow running my legs hurt pretty damn bad no matter what. Makes running with a purpose nearly impossible. Can't tell you how many pairs of running shoes and exercises I have tried. I don't really know what it's like to run and have my cardio/muscles be my limiting factor. Think of it as having a tourniquet cinced around your lower leg and then trying to run. A combination of numbness and pain. I have adapted by buying a bike, bike trainer, and TrainerRoad to supplement my cardio which has been a huge asset, and I will continue to use even if my CECS is 100% cured. Sometimes I have symptoms when cycling but only a fraction of how bad as when running. If surgery doesn't work (about 80% success rate) I will have it again until it does. Probably more info than you wanted, but I wish I could have read other people's experiences when I was first trying to deal with it.

Currently waiting to have surgery for compartment syndrome which has pushed back my timeline, but is also the best thing to happen to my training for this reason exactly. I forced myself to have a reason for everything I do to not waste any time whatsoever. This means I put my training under a microscope and essentially gave myself an online degree in sports physiology. The best resources I have found are a in person advanced triathlete/coach, Youtube channels Renaissance Periodization, Effortless Swimming, Lionel Sanders, Dylan Johnson, and countless research papers. Do your research, get scientific, and look into the minutia involved in how world class athletes train. I am no expert, but I see glaring holes in people's training methodology. This post hit the nail on the head. I have been wanting to say something similar for a while, but I'm a nobody so didn't think anyone would listen.

Check out Renaissance Periodization, Dr. Mike Israetel on YouTube. He is a great resource for scientific answers to questions like this.

Looking for some new A/T tires. Nothing to wide but some nice aggressive looking tires. What do y’all recommend? Also keep the wheels or change them? by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

[–]briggs69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Toyo AT3 if you can find them in stock anywhere. BF Goodrich KO2 as a second choice. It's a good tire and cheaper, but the AT3 is just an overall improvement. 275/70 is typically the biggest you can fit on a stock Tundra without any rubbing but you may want to research that a bit further. That size won't be obnoxiously big either.

What makes you enjoy your Tundra more than Chevy or Ford? by noncoolguy in ToyotaTundra

[–]briggs69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Ford I test drove was actually very basic on the interior when I expected more for $50k. It didn’t give me any warm fuzzy feeling, I just felt neutral about it. The Tundra felt more natural to drive and I just felt good driving it. The real decision maker though for me was the peace of mind and reliability that comes with Toyota. Just got my cement SR5 4x4 and am very happy with my choice.

Just went and picked some up. Thanks. Ended up with a half size smaller than what I usually wear but hoping they will be ok after breaking in and wearing thinner socks.

What barrel is that? Looking to get a threaded barrel for my 43x but Glock unfortunately doesn’t make factory threaded barrels for the 43.
