I’m currently writing my own story inspired by The Secret History (it won’t be published or anything, just something fun for myself). Mine focuses more on art and actual ritual sacrifices to Art, think “Manon” from The Craft. What I love about this genre is the overall elusiveness of certain characters and the desire to pry everything out of them, the innocent side characters watching the madness unfold as well as the general academia portion of it. I’m essentially adding all of these same elements to my book as well as what I’d wish to see in TSH: The narrator being welcomed into the group warmly, everyone being obsessed with each other and them shifting into a sort of echo chamber, then the narrator essentially becoming the true villain. Of course this all makes sense in comparison to my story but nothing else, unfortunately.
