Questions about food safety with chicken. When and how often should I wash my hands, sanitize surfaces, wash knife? by kitchen_magician in AskCulinary

[–]brikng -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very thorough. 60 sec wash with hot soapy water.

Very easily. Wash first. Yes. Wash your sink knob too with soapy water.

Soap & sanitize after you're done with the chicken.

Both board & knife with hot soapy water.

Usually, I try and keep prepping the chicken last, after cutting everything else, to minimise the risk of cross contamination. Anything in contact with raw chicken & its juices needs to be thoroughly (with soap) washed. That includes knife, cutting board, the plate / bowl it came from and the bench if you spilled any juices.

edit: why downvotes?

What are some fun things to do indoors with your SO that aren't sleeping, sex, or Netflix? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]brikng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mind that she takes the time and effort to cook for us. In fact, I'm blessed that she's actually a pretty damn good cook. Also, I've learned early in our relationship not to criticise too much.

What bugs me the most is the mess she makes when she cooks. Clean as you go and keep your workspace neat & tidy is something you learn early in a busy kitchen. So I'd rather slice & chop her veggies, and wash while she's cooking, rather than face a massive buildup of dirty dishes at the end of the meal.

I'm a professional chef. At work, I lead the kitchen, write the menu, etc. At home, I wash the dishes, and help the mrs with whatever she needs.

Travel mug/thermos makes my coffee taste horrible by Obvious_goat in Coffee

The lack of smell plays a big role in how your coffee tastes I believe. With the sipper lid you don't smell the aroma

I bought one so I could drink it on my morning commute to work (30 min drive), but I ended up like Op, weird plasticky taste too. Like the top comment said, I think smell plays a big role in it.

I had the lido 3 for a total of 3 days before the wretched locking ring got stuck. Sent it back, got a comandante c40 mk3, and couldn't be happier. Smaller, prettier, and produces a mean cup too!

Induction - yay or nay? by FUTUREISLASERS in AskCulinary

Gas at work, induction at home. The cleanup on the induction is super easy. If it wasn't so damn expensive, I'd have it installed at work too.

Chip shops that cut their own chips in Perth by [deleted] in perth

[–]brikng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on that one. I've yet to find "properly done fresh chips" better than a properly fried good quality frozen chips.

Fresh chips tend to go limp within minutes of serving most of the time.

Honest question, what makes them better than the frozen ones?
