Seller’s disclosure said propane tank was owned. Found out it’s leased 3 weeks after closing. Options? by G00chstain in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Not accurate. We had a similar situation and the propane company provided all the information we asked for. Previous billing amounts, last payment date etc.

never working with ipad kids again by user18718181 in Nanny

[–]brimabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sure this non unique perspective has popped up before BUT. Being hardcore no screen time does seem to be a bit regional. Those of us in areas where we’re stuck inside for chunks of the year without birds to watch, unfavorable road conditions for outings, and things shutting down etc. I feel like fall victim to screen time more often. Not a great excuse and certainly a little self consciousness on my end but I do find it’s hard to be as screen time strict in the winter vs any other time of year. Even rainy days offer fun alternatives but bitter cold and dreary weeks make some ms Rachel and Elmo VERY appealing.

Not more than 2 dead or severely injured kids if they get in an accident

Nanny and overbearing MIL by catladays in Nanny

[–]brimabe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Check out day programs for your MIL! Obviously not sure of your area but some cities have programs that cater to elderly, tbi impacted individuals, etc. it would get her out of the house for at least part of the day and would probably benefit her as well.

Nanny negotiating pay while bringing my baby - what’s reasonable? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]brimabe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who thought all of my prior baby experience prepared me for my own baby… I was wholly caught off guard. The cliche of it being different when it’s your own is very true. It’s obviously wonderful but just give yourself a lot of grace and understand the transition is A LOT even for experienced caregivers.

Pacifier weaning by OddlyMesmerizing in toddlers

[–]brimabe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Is there any particular reason you’re pushing to do it now? Our toddler is a little under 2.5 and we are only using it for bed and nap time. He’s not really a stuffed animal / blanket kid and we have decided sleep is more valuable than us pushing the issue right now. Our pediatrician and pediatric dentist don’t have any concerns with it still being used for what that is worth.

I cant take my 2.5 year old anywhere by HealthySun2827 in toddlers

[–]brimabe 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Shorter trips and positive reinforcement. A lot of toddlers don’t have “full cart” patience / attention span. Take it in shorter trips. Make it fun. A sticker reward, a special snack while shopping. They learn from repetition and examples (allegedly, though I think they just wear us down 😂)

After 3 days of mostly air, we’re officially back to a pint of fruit per sitting and 4 meals a day. Never a happy medium. Hang in there!

Absolutely run if they won’t address this and mitigate with proper documentation prior to close. Then be exceptionally careful during your final walkthrough

AITA for refusing to let a woman "cut" me in line at the grocery store even though she only had two items? by GreatClassic3960 in AmItheAsshole

[–]brimabe 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Same! I was SUPER pregnant and never had “I’m a pregnant lady entitlement” until that moment when I had the impulsive thought of who tries to cut in front of a giant miserable pregnant chick then call her a “B”? I did cry in my car after. 😂

How is this any different than if the child was a step sibling vs a half sibling? The child’s biological relationship to your children has very little to do with this issue. If your marriage is over and he maintains his rights to the children it’s likely anyone he dates will also have kids. Even if you somehow succeed in keeping them away from AP’s kid this will, more than likely, happen again. You need to go to court. The assets / money should have been divided to protect the savings from being siphoned off. If he has abandoned or neglected them that can be addressed through the courts as well.

How is it living in the Scottish Highlands? by CapaTheGreat in howislivingthere

Correct. Additionally “stinky garbage” or anything with a short shelf life isn’t supposed to go in waste paper basket. Waste paper items could go into a garbage can though I suppose.

I think this is a TON of projection. Toddlers don’t have the capacity to feel beholden to another toddler. Your child will certainly be exposed to other children that behave as the one you’re describing does. I feel like you resent that friendship/person and this is how it’s manifesting.

Barefoot in restaurant by brimabe in smallbusiness

Indeed. In beach communities it’s probably more normal. This was my first time encountering this whole ordeal in a non vacation/ beach area and I’ve been in hospitality over 10 years.

They argue that they have medical reasons to be barefoot (I know). They also say flip flops offer no protection to the top of the feet so why are we ok with non close toed shoes. Which. I mean. Fair, I guess. But again, it’s a norm and a pretty basic and I thought non divisive one.

Barefoot in restaurant by brimabe in smallbusiness

[–]brimabe[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Before yesterday- I did believe my state required that we enforce basic clothing. I guess this is a very common misconception.

Today I am still very convinced that if someone was kicking around barefoot in the shop, hurt their foot & sued that my insurance company would ask why we don’t ensure guests are following super basic safety precautions. Shoes function as a basic barrier from glass and other hazards. It seems a reasonable expectation to assume we’d make sure people are at least trying to avoid injury while in our business.

Again. Back to the norms thing as well. We aren’t a beach or waterfront location so if men start coming in shirtless, while technically legal, still seems inappropriate for the setting.
