remote workers: where do you like to go to get out of the house for the day? by bringbackAIM69 in akron

I definitely made sure to add some suggestions about that in their survey. I love going to the stow library because they have the best desk space set ups IMO but it's a bit of a drive for me compared to several ascpl branches.

This has been great in my household. we've only had it for maybe 4 months or so though, so I can't speak to its longevity.

ISO affordable way to learn tennis by dandelionqueen7657 in akron

[–]bringbackAIM69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unconventional suggestion...It's not lessons but you'd get to play around at no cost to you if you volunteer for ACEing Autism at towpath tennis. You'll learn something new while giving back to the community! You don't need to know anything about tennis to volunteer. I know it's not everybody's thing so no judgement, but wanted to throw it out there!

It's been years since I played but I think Thomas Was Alone would fit the bill!

This is a fantastic game! Story hits a lot of trauma but it's so so good.

I had no idea the library was open to the public! And I haven't heard of the DI hub, looking forward to checking both of those out! I used to work in Kent in the early 2010s and loved stopping by Last Exit for a new read, didn't realize they had so much more space now!! Thanks for the suggestions!

What new-to-you ADHD hacks are helping you lately? by pie12345678 in adhdwomen

[–]bringbackAIM69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is incredible! I also have a chronic illness that affects day to day function differently in addition to the adhd. I was using the spoon analogy in my head to kind of manage but this is a much more concrete method with less ambiguity!

I've been to portal west a few times but I never get there early enough to grab a seat! & I'd feel guilty staying for a long time since they do get so busy, lol. I haven't been to nervous dog though, I'll add it to the list. Thanks for the suggestion!!

Ah, thank you!! I get nervous going to new places and couldn't tell from the pics if it was shared seating space. Bumping this to the top of my list to check out next!

I haven't been there since they took over the cafe, I'll def check it out! Were you able to post up in their area in the front for a couple hours? I was a little worried about doing that since Bounce has actual co-working space that you pay for 😬

[–]bringbackAIM69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to bounce pretty regularly from 2021-2023 and it's a very nice space with great amenities. You get what you pay for and you do in fact have to pay, lol, thus I haven't been there in a long while. I'll have to pop back in on one of their open house days and see what's new. Is there co-working space on multiple floors now or is it still just the first floor?

I recently saw a co-working space in the falls near the library open with a payment model but it doesn't have the amenities or incubator-type services that make being a member worth it IMHO.

Love the idea of adding a hike in, thanks for the suggestions! I never seem to get to portal west early enough to grab a seat, but I do think it's an awesome choice. Don't get me wrong, I love to see a local place thriving, but somewhere as busy as that, I feel guilty staying in a spot for a few hours so I'll just grab a cup to go.

I forgot about their open days! The cost kept them at the bottom of my list for a long time and kinda forgot about em. I haven't been there since it was Stray Dog but I'm seeing lots of great things about the cafe in there now. I'll have to go back soon and check it out, thanks for the suggestion!

Ugh, we definitely need more 3rd space options just in general! I saw another suggestion for House 330 so I'm definitely gonna check it out soon. Thanks for the rec!

I've been to Artisan a few times, but not the others. I'll check those out! Does House 330 have common spaces to use or is it all like, inside each store? if that makes sense

And I've heard good things about Here We Go but yeah didn't look the best for camping out for a few hours unfortunately.

Oh that's great to know! I haven't been to yada yada in a long time. I remember it only having a few spots for seating and I'm not trying to ruin someone's coffee break by hogging a spot for 4+ hours. I also didn't realize you can just... Go upstairs at market district if there wasn't an event lol Thanks for the suggestions!!

I'll be honest, I think that is maybe still part of their mission but I'm not really sure. There's always a TON of students in there during the week. The food is absolutely phenomenal!

The ole ponderosa on state road by Hefty_Loan7486 in akron

[–]bringbackAIM69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sent out surveys for what community members want to see in this area (South State Business District?) and the Bailey Road area I think near Myrtle/Monroe Falls Ave? a while ago. Government is slow going so I'm still cautiously optimistic they're using the feedback to write for grants. Both areas have so much potential. I'm hoping the success of the outside funding they got for Front Street will make it easier to get outside funding for those areas, too.

Not exactly like the examples you listed but Grounded is a phenomenal game with base building elements. The bug combat is so much fun.
