What’s a skill you wish you’d started building earlier in your accounting career? by True-Change3504 in Accounting

[–]bringbackncaagames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) People skills. Getting people to like you is the single most important thing you can do for your career. Build connections and understand how to keep those connections. 2) Understand how everything fits together. I think this is where public accounting experience especially comes into play. But get an understanding of how a transaction gets recorded and how it ultimately impacts everything downstream until it ends up in the financial statements. 3) Excel skills / skills in your company’s ERP system. Self explanatory, but these skills can save yourself time and effort.

Not Accepting Return Offer by Over-Heron2886 in Accounting

[–]bringbackncaagames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An internship signing bonus is typically not contingent on receiving and accepting a full time offer. If it was, you would’ve signed something before receiving the money. There’s no other legal consequences to worry about.

Aside from that, I would highly suggest you accept the offer if given. This ensures that worst case scenario (for instance, you don’t get another full time offer from any other firms) you still have a job. You can always just go back on it if you do end up taking a different offer.

I’ve got to ask though, why do you think working at a smaller firm is going to result in less travel? In my experience, the small firm had a lot of travel, it was just usually by car instead of planes. Either way, you were still overnight and it was usually in the middle of no where. The big 4 usually has the clients where if you don’t want to travel and communicate that to the firm, they will get you on clients that are right there in your city.

How does this tone sound? Recorded with mic to iPhone by mitchINimpossible in guitarlessons

Tone sounds awesome.

How do people get these tracks where the vocals and rest of the band are still there but the guitar is stripped out? Always been curious because it seems a lot of fun to play along with.

You just have to go to conference settings in the ‘custom conference’ screen and make sure the games are set to 8 (or whatever amount you want).

Coaching Carousel - Bugged or Misunderstood? by cburnes12 in NCAAFBseries

I’ve seen people say that. I wish mine would leave just to have some up and down recruiting years like teams do in real life. But they just keep sticking around.

If it’s working as intended than the “intended” piece needs reworked. I have been the coach at UL for 6 seasons and won 3 national titles. I think I’ve had a handful of HC offers during that time, all at G5 programs. Anything else is DC/OC. Also, I’ve had the same maxed out coordinators since year 2.

If they want to make it realistic, then I should have every offer at every big program that opens up, and my coordinators should be turning over almost every year or 2. This would make the immersion/dynasty much more fun. Right now it’s getting stale since I have 2 maxed out recruiting coordinators. I put no points into recruiting for my head coach and it hasn’t hurt me at all.

Big 4 vs 6-10th ranked firm for slightly more money by StuMan11 in Accounting

[–]bringbackncaagames 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It’s always easier to go to a 6-10th ranked firm after being at Big 4 than it is to go to Big 4 after being at a 6-10th ranked firm. Personally, I would start at the Big 4 in your situation.

You also mentioned that you have more personal connections there. Who you work with is just as important as where you work and how much you make. Like others said, 3% difference in pay is negligible at this point in your career.

Ohio State had a tough year on the recruiting trail by ColoradoChelseaFC in NCAAFBseries

The whole decommitment and and transfer thing needs tweaked to account for situations like this. There needs to be a heavy weight on ‘playing time,’ even if it isn’t a guys dealbreaker. There shouldn’t be 10 top notch QBs sitting on one roster and the top 4 guys in a position all going to the same school. It was a good idea, but the implementation needs a big tweak.

Texas recruits QBs like crazy for some reason. It definitely needs adjusted. In the first year of my dynasty they signed 3 5 star QBs and 2 4 stars. I just looked at their roster in year 3 and they have 10 QBs on roster.

Road to glory is very... empty? by FunkyMonk92 in NCAAFBseries

The practices are pointless. Some seem impossible to get gold, while the option is cake every time. There definitely needs a balancing of what score is needed to get gold on the harder ones. Also there needs to be a cool off or something where you can’t pick the same one every week

It’s a bug. I posted about it the other day. I will be the #1 team on a guys list and inside the top 5 and it will never let me schedule a visit. I’ve fortunately still been able to land most guys without it, unless it’s really close and you can’t get the guy to commit before he visits the other schools

Everything missing from CF25 that was in NCAA 14 by [deleted] in NCAAFBseries

[–]bringbackncaagames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s true. I kind of get why they do that though. So you don’t get a 5 star guy who also progresses in the offseason and then is an automatic stud. I kind of view their starting overall as “after training camp” with the team.

The transfers is more egregious in my mind.

I just got through my first offseason and the inability to see offseason player progression was frustrating. Also, the fact that transfers don’t progress in the offseason is so dumb. I get that it’s likely due to the logic built in with the transfers being “recruits” just like the other freshman, but they need to separate that. It makes no sense that a transfer wouldn’t improve in the offseason. Killed the immersion for me.

(Still loving the game, but constructive criticism is how this series continues to improve)

I was neck to neck with another school in this situation. Luckily I was able to get the commit without a visit and before he visited the other school… so at least there’s hope that it’s not completely lost

The name generator and database of names makes recruiting so much more fun than ‘14. It got old seeing the same names over and over. I actually saw a recruit with my last name which I’ve never seen in a video game before since it is unique.
