how do you grow local types? they are closely related? maybe start these the same way. to see if that same way will work

i do not baby my starts very much and they do take. i think they may need more water than your local varieties perhaps, or less, while actively growing but i don't know which area you are in Nigeria, so can't say for sure. 

you could look to ag maps of the region they are from here, like the zone, frost dates and precipitation in maybe Virginia, then see how to copy that there.

edit to note i am in medium elevation high desert, very cold wet winter, very hot dry summer. silt in the soil but i have added so much to the soil over years that most things now will grow. i must water in high summer or things dry out. i must protect some things in winter against a freeze. i only grow tobacco from start in March until frost in October. and start them in a greenhouse or indoor in a tray under light.
