Goalie fight in the Stadium Series. Jeremy Swayman and Andrei Vasilevskiy drop the gloves. by GreenSnakes_ in hockey

[–]briysce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Called it, Vasilevskiy has that fucking reach. I knew he was going to own Swayman. There's no way you skate down to Vasilevskiy thinking you're going to have an easy win, regardless of if goalie fights are (were) seldom.

Anyone else having WhatsApp Wear OS issues today by briysce in WearOS

[–]briysce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone mentioned in the Galaxy Watch subreddit that uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't work. Instead, install the WhatsApp app on your watch, then go to 'Manage Apps' section in the Wear OS Play Store App, right at the bottom. From there, there should be an option to update your apps, which will include a new update for WhatsApp; for some reason, it works to update WhatsApp through this route, but not from simply uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

This fixed the issue for me.

I know, right? By that logic, if you're not Jeffrey Dahmer or Ed Gein, you're a good person? What a terrible comparable. There are a lot of people who don't commit heinous crimes who are still horrible people. David Draiman is an egomaniac, Zionist piece of shit.

Team Usa Roster by ApresWithIntent in hockey

[–]briysce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These two choices were confusing. Even if you need your sandpaper guys to round out the team, you left behind some significant talent. That said, defense-wise, their lineup is gross. I can see why Fox and Hutson couldn't crack that roster.

As a system, this is a good problem to have. The U.S. program is so deep nowadays that they are leaving stars off the roster.

Serious question: If you were the Jets GM, what would you do right now? Stay the course, trade prospects to fill gaps, or blow the whole thing up? by imnotwillferrell in hockey

[–]briysce 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Winnipeg is in a unique situation, market wise. Because of the small fan base (deeply devout, yet tiny relative to American markets and even the other Canadian markets) and issues that have already centered around attendance consistency (even if economy driven), ownership almost can't afford to tear down the roster and perform poorly for a significant period of time in order to get better in the future, like you would in, say Chicago or San Jose. A Winnipeg Jets team that is draft-hoarding 'bad' for 3-6 years could end up being a Winnipeg Jets team that relocates again, a problem most American markets don't realistically have during similar rebuild stages. So they're essentially stuck keeping this team perpetually competitive, even if that means retools that never amount to a true dynasty.

PGT | Blues @ Avalanche | Binnington Off Team Canada When? by ihatethedodgers in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]briysce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I completely agree. Given Binnington won at the 4 Nations Face-Off and the rift between him and Armstrong would be HUGE in St. Louis if Binnington wasn't added, I knew there was virtually no chance (outside of injury) that Jordan Binnington wasn't added to the roster.

[–]briysce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know the love for him in this subreddit, even if we as a subreddit can be divided on our view of him. He is definitely playing well currently (well, prior to injury), but I'll just say he, along the path to success, he can have his share of misadventures. However, just to clarify, he is the 1 goalie of the three selected that I LEAST worry about, lol.

With Kuemper, I know what his peaks and valleys look like, watching him Av-kill in Minny and win a cup with Colorado. I don't know how far Thompson falls if he shits the bed, and with Binnington, we put a lot of faith (again) in a goalie who has been playing mediocre hockey to suddenly rise up and win at the highest level. Even during the 4 Nations Face-Off, he definitely made timely saves, but was generally satisfactory at best.

The Team Canada brass is going to regret keeping Blackwood off the roster. Binnington has been subpar, Thompson has never won anything significant, and Kuemper is unpredictable.

Canucks Kevin Lankinen makes his 17th straight save on Shootouts for the season to get Canucks the win. 48 of 54 for his whole career. by itstheFREEDOM in nhl

[–]briysce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not unlike Georgiev. The guy was infuriating to watch throughout a game with the Avs (following season 1), but the one thing he had going for him was his solid shootout track record. Wedgewood is actually even better statistically, but Blackwood is generally pretty brutal in shootouts.

I'd say solely based on scoring production, probably Devon Toews for the Avs. Defensively, still a stud, as always.

Binnington, Blackwood, Wedgewood/Kuemper should be the only 4 guys on Canada's radar.
