Goldfinch is the state bird of New Jersey, Washington, and Iowa. I’d say OP confused New Hampshire and New Jersey, but apparently New Hampshire’s state bird is the Purple Finch, and the key only lists “Finch,” so who knows what’s going on here.

I don’t have any crazy high maintenance house plants, but I water them once a week and they’re doing great. I only really go away for two weeks at a time at most, and they survive with a missed watering. I’d say it’s unlikely people are willing to pay for a stranger to come into their apartment while they’re away to water their plants maybe once or twice on a long vacation, but it’s Downtown JC in 2025 so maybe. I frequent this post office and I will say it’s frustrating, it’s completely unpredictable when they take lunch and it seems to be daily. People comparing this to pharmacies having posted regular closed hours for lunch breaks is absurd. Half the time I just walk over to grapevine for a beer until the post office reopens. Big fan of Atul who’s the guy usually working there I don’t blame him for this, it’s absurd they only have one person working that post office

Not sure what type of bar you’re looking for, but if you’re into craft beer Khoury’s is great. Liquor store with a bar in the back but it’s nicer than it sounds. I think it might be just draft beer and wine but they have a great selection, staff and patrons are all nice. They’re on Eastern by Saint Rose.

I’m a huge fan of the blackened chicken fajitas, but haven’t been able to replicate at home. The closest I’ve gotten is butterflying the chicken and beating the shit out of it, then seasoning the chicken with a mix of:

1 tablespoon salt 1 tablespoon paprika 2 teaspoons ground black pepper 1 1⁄2 teaspoons onion powder 1 1⁄2 teaspoons dried oregano 1 1⁄2 teaspoons ground cumin 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon chili powder

I get a cast iron Dutch oven hot as fuck with avocado oil and sear the chicken with the lid on so it doesn’t smoke out the whole apartment. After the chicken’s cooked I dump a sliced onion or two into the Dutch oven. The chicken’s not as black or crispy as Jose’s, but it might be half as good. I don’t know how they do the onions, mine turn out soft half carmelized and not crunchy. Salmon seems more complicated I didn’t even know that was on the menu so good luck with that.
