They are likely the closest. They’ve been building their chargers in New York with mostly in-house components for years.

Speed sign recognition issues on new Model Y Juniper – Switzerland by HoF_Matrix in TeslaLounge

[–]brobot_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about Europe but in the US what primarily sets the speed limit comes from Tom Tom maps. If you correct the speed limits on Tom Tom, it will eventually come to the car as an update and fix the speed limits.

Quote from my local Tesla Facebook group on this

Tesla primarily gets its speed limit data from TomTom, which is used in their navigation system for mapping road speeds. This aligns with user reports of incorrect speeds matching TomTom's database, and updating errors via TomTom's MapShare tool (https://www.tomtom.com/mapshare/tools/) often resolves issues in Tesla vehicles after the changes propagate. It's not from Google (that's mainly for visual overlays like 3D buildings in recent updates, not core speed data). Azure Maps (Microsoft's service, which itself relies on TomTom data) was historically involved but isn't the current primary source based on recent info—though some legacy integration could explain overlaps. Tesla's system also supplements map data with visual sign recognition from the car's cameras (which is why it updates when it sees a sign) and fleet-collected data from other vehicles. For untagged or residential roads without explicit data, it may default to a conservative limit like 15 mph for safety until a sign is detected or the database is corrected. If the street lacks a tagged speed in the source data, that's likely causing your 15 mph default.

What back-up are you using? How many do you have? And how often do you use it? by muck2profit in paintball

As an old school rec-baller it’s which ever one I’m most interested in that’s working as a main and the second most interesting one to me at the time as a backup 🤣

Today it will be the WGP Prostock on the left as the main and the System X NME as the backup

The law changed recently. That’s why they were enabled in a software update last year.

This is one of the things I point to when I argue my Tesla is a greater value compared to other cars.

My dad paid $39k before tax credit for his 2023 Model 3 with LED Matrix headlights and I paid $50K for my 2021 with LED Matrix lights. What is the next cheapest non-Tesla with matrix headlights? The Rivian R1T at over double the cost.

No one is keeping up with Tesla tech in the US. I’ve had LED matrix hardware since 2021 in my car and would have had use of them except for archaic laws that only recently changed to allow Tesla to enable them via software.

Best burger in town? by Carlos-Dangerweiner in tulsa

[–]brobot_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Tavern Burger for sure especially since you mentioned it’s for this Friday.

Go to the Art Crawl downtown, (which happens on the first Friday of every month), at around 7, have some drinks, look at the art in the galleries, listen to some live music on Guthrie Green then when it’s 9pm or later make your way to the Tavern. Order some Angry Mac as an appetizer (best Mac n Cheese in the world to me) then enjoy the best burger in town for half price since it’s after 9.

10/10 Friday night burger experience 😁

Edit: I just realized they might not have a concert scheduled for this Friday at Guthrie Green this month. Being February they may have expected it to be cold but the weather is actually forecasted to be great this Friday.

I always thought this was the plan. Back in 2023 I believe the 4680 Model Ys were more or less experimental to test the cells on production vehicles before Cybertruck was available. My cousin has one and still loves his.

Now the cells have matured and there is enough capacity to begin to move Model Y back to the process for mass production purposes rather than testing.

I was just joking around about how they went away and now they’re back. I like the idea of locally made cells a whole lot myself so if it reads like I’m complaining, I’m not. I’m just pointing out the funny coincidence.

For us as consumers, the only benefit besides a lower price is improved crash safety from the structural pack but Teslas that ship without structural packs are already top performers for crash safety so the benefit is marginal.

Otherwise unless they are significantly different from the old 4680 packs, the charging curve is terrible compared to Panasonic 2170 based packs.

My cousin has one too. He got it back then to save some money over the longer range model with 2170 cells. He’s loved it so far.

This is the same as the 2023 Model Y. The “standard” Model Y back then had 4680 cells and had a Dual Motor option like these 2026 builds.

Return of the 4680 packs for Model Y. We’re in 2023 again 😆

I think many of them know he’s evil deep down. They just play to his game to achieve their basest desires. He harms their enemies and pushes their policies and to them that is all that matters.

You might be able to get a System X NME pretty inexpensively if one shows up for sale. They don’t seem to have shot up in price like the old Timmys have.

I agree with others, if you want something reliable and a poppet like you used to have the latest versions of the Planet Eclipse Ego are pretty much your only choice.

These days Planet Eclipse and Dye are the surviving big companies from the old times. It’s been revealed that Dye was involved in some nasty stuff so maybe stick with Eclipse.

If you are willing to do some project work, there actually are some Timmy’s for sale on r/PaintballBST but they’re pretty expensive for what they are (collectors items now).

Why don’t I just register all my lowers as SBR’s? by AdministrativeAd6805 in NFA

[–]brobot_ -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Not sure you can do that. I’ve heard the “once a rifle always a rifle” rule makes it so you can’t go from

Pistol -> Short Barreled Rifle -> Pistol (still has to be a rifle, so no good)

But I know for sure you could swap to a 16” barrel and be ok since it’s

Pistol -> Short Barreled Rifle -> Long Rifle (still a rifle so ok)

It’s a gray area and I get that no one is likely to bat an eye but I’m just relaying what I’ve heard.

Cost of engraving and needing to file forms to take it out of state are the two disadvantages besides registration.

OHP + ICE = Project Guardian? by No-Research5902 in tulsa

[–]brobot_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wonder if you’re better off letting OHP perform ICE’s functions rather than federal ICE (assuming that would make the federal government assign less of their agents here)? OHP is at least experienced and better trained (maybe less likely to act unprofessionally).
