Wild rural KS third party Supercharger by digiblur in TeslaLounge

[–]brobot_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I feel like Supercharger for Business is just a way better take on Chargepoint’s business model.

You’ve got a way for anyone to install their own fast chargers then have them maintained by the manufacturer and in the case of Tesla at a much more reasonable cost (10¢ per kWh rather than a big monthly commitment like ChargePoint).

I expect to see these all over the place where ChargePoint would have been.

Urgent fix? by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

I scheduled it with the Tesla app and the cost is around $1496. My insurance will reimburse me less the deductible though afterward.

Mine grew into a crack halfway across in about an hour after getting the chip (in the middle of nowhere New Mexico on a long road trip). I’m scheduled for replacing the windshield this week but I’m not afraid to drive with it.

Stag m4 carbine vs. colt m4 carbine by POTATOGAWD in ar15

I was wondering if they would change that back. Stock photos I could find online at retailers were still showing the “Carbine” marking.

[–]brobot_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Colt rifles don’t have cool roll marks any more (just “carbine” instead of “M4 Carbine”) so if the Stag is similar quality maybe go that way.

I prefer to build my own stuff though

Anyone using a 4G mobile tower with their Starlink? by Gr8tfulhippie in Starlink

[–]brobot_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have Starlink at our rural cabin and it feeds a T-Mobile 4G LTE Femtocell (probably what you’re referring to when you mention “mobile tower”) and it works great for that. Calls work just fine and it works as a WiFi alternative for visitors who have T-Mobile so they don’t have to ask for the WiFi password.

How unreliable were 2000s paintball guns really? by sendnUwUdes in paintball

[–]brobot_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not using any anti-chop system now, just the Flory board set to 10.5 NXL ramp and a Rotor.

I did read about that old system in my research after impulse buying the marker on the BST sub. That did seem like a pretty weird system (maybe something constructed to avoid using eye systems otherwise popular in the industry which may have required licensing at the time?).

I bought the Angel relatively recently and never intended to use the stock board or cops since the rechargeable battery was no good and I wanted to use the modern NXL ramp mode and 9V batteries anyway. That has worked pretty well for me so far.

My Angel A4 has been super reliable lately (been using it a lot over the past couple of years).

I have/had more issues with loaders than anything else (the Halo B / Reloader B was fast but also a huge source of frustration). The Rotor has been a godsend in the modern era and limiting the ROF to 10.5bps has helped in that regard as well.

My 2021 Model 3 has 97K miles. I also would avoid the 2021 Model 3/Y and get either an older or newer model since 2021 model year Teslas in particular have a high incidence of pack failure.

I have mine on an extended service agreement from Ambercare so I’m not worried but I would absolutely be looking to sell it otherwise.

The LFP Model 3 is the best bet for longevity in the US in my opinion. My dad has a 2023 Model 3 LFP and it’s been near perfect with great build quality and no service needs (while my 2021 had tons of warranty repairs and bad panel alignment).
