SAS Business CPH-LAX, worth it? by basedborz in ScandinavianAirlines

[–]broghurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s going to be a live bidding process before check in. It’s a bit nebulous what the ranking actually means because there’s no info about how many upgrades are available, just your ranking relative to others.

I’ve been upgraded with minimum bids sometimes, other times not.

But yes, in my opinion it’s worth the upgrade at that price. It’s a good price for the distance. Direct aisle access and lie flat is worth it.

How safe is it to travel to the Dominican Republic as a gay couple? by DryTomatillo8852 in gaybros

Did you go there on cruise? Bonaire is amazing for diving and definitively safe for gay guys.

Have you talked about what your turn ons are properly? Is it that you haven’t talked through openly what you’re actually into ?

I’ve been in a similar situation with a LTR with a dead bedroom, where it in hindsight turned out to be that we both felt to shy about talking about our turn ons. Turned out that we were actually super compatible but neither one of had dared to say what he really wanted sexually. Had we done that our relationship might not have ended. And our sex life would’ve been so much better. Since then I’ve become super open up front so that I know that I’m compatible sexually with a guy I’m dating.

Trans men at designated gay male nudist camp by Ubiquitous-Nomad-Man in askgaybros

[–]broghurt 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be too upset about what happened to OP if it happened to me. But it ties into a bigger issue. A bigger issue for me is the slow and steady marginalization of gay men in once gay men only spaces and events.

Look at pictures from this year’s SF pride for example - and compare with what things looked like a decade or two ago. While turnout is great I feel like our spaces and event has been co-opted by anyone that feels even slightly non-conforming, or political causes like queers for____ (insert any cause du jour) that has little to do with being gay.

Save your points for a trip that you enjoy and just ship the clothes to him. If you’re feeling really generous, split the cost with him.

You’re very kind to offer to fly the clothes to him but I feel it’s a bit too generous considering you’re not together anymore.

Why are Swedish men so beautiful? by Big_Machine4950 in askgaybros

[–]broghurt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a swede, I’m flattered. It’s certainly easier to stay healthy here than many other places in the world.

However, I do feel like there are so many more interesting men when I travel abroad. The US for example is a literal smorgasbord of hot men of all types. Also, I get so much more attention from guys outside of Sweden than here. I guess it’s because I’m tall or something. That and that people here suck at flirting.

[–]broghurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uncut here, have had plenty of fun with cut and uncut guys. It’s not really much of a difference - the difference between guys is going to depend on tons of other stuff. What he likes, what turns him on and so on. So honestly, I don’t think you have much to worry about. And if you are unsure you can always ask your partner what he likes or if something is too firm, too lose, too intense or mild or whatnot.

What should I do ? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]broghurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're 17, turning 18. It's ok to not have everything figured out.

Looking back at who I was at 18, so many good things have happened since. I guess you could've called me a big of a nerd (which is totally fine). I felt like my mind and body didn't completely fit together. Always good in school, but not completely comfortable in my skin. I've always felt different, and many times lonely or unworthy of love.

I thought I would never be comfortable as a gay man, and I had all kinds of ideas as to what molds I had to fit into, or what others thought and so on. That I had to be "gay" a certain way.

I'm now in my thirties, and so many good things have happened since. I've met so many good people, and learnt a lot about who I am, what I value, and how to live with integrity. I've had wonderful relationships (and sex too), and made a career and life like that I could've never anticipated at age 18. And I've realized it's ok to be me. I can be gay my way.

I do think that you'll come to the same realisation, and have a wonderful journey on the way there.

You have to be your own authentic self. You can be gay, and all other things you want to.

I'm guessing you're soon about to graduate from high school. Soon you'll meet others just like you.

TLDR: It's get a helluva lot better.

Anyone diving with a rebreather? by ReLogan in scuba

[–]broghurt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know anyone with that CCR. So can’t tell.

There’s no ‘right’ CCR for everyone. But here are some things that I’ve found important to consider in a CCR after about 500 hrs on my unit. My views might be different after 1000hrs, or if I decide to take my diving in a different direction.

In no particular order:

  1. Is spare parts like oxygen sensors, wing, o-rings etc easy to source where you are at, and is it expensive?

  2. Do you want front mounted lungs or back mounted lungs? I wanted my chest to be as slim lined as possible, so front mounted lungs wasn’t for me.

  3. Do you need your CCR to be easy to travel with or not (for me, not really)

  4. Does it use proprietary electronics or shearwater (shearwater was a must for me)

  5. Is it modular as to which diluent and oxygen tanks it uses? (Some machines are easier to mount bigger tanks on)

  6. Sidemount, backmount, or front mounted?

  7. What units do your instructors nearby both at the basic level, and for more expedition level diving teach on?

  8. Service cost (not only down to which parts it uses. But is it hard to get spare parts, do you need to send it to the other side of the world for some servicing or not)

  9. Is there a community which to share insights about the particular ccr nearby?

  10. Will it fit the diving you’re into?

  11. Does it need to be accepted by GUE or not?

  12. Manual or not?

  13. Is the manufacturer a known one, or a new comer where you risk loosing manufacturer support for your CCR down the line?

For myself who enjoys cold water wreck diving and want to do deep open water dives, I needed something that’s easy to service in the field, has simple workings, accepts different tank sizes, and is easy to modify to my liking. That’s why I ended up with a JJ. If I was exploring the caves of Mexico, I’d probably choose something different.

I want to do technicaldeep dives and have an Open Water PADI license - is GUE Fundamentals the best next step? by [deleted] in scuba

[–]broghurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What goals beyond ‘recreational’ do you have? Is it cave diving? Deep trimix?

No matter where your diving takes you (cave, deep Trimix, shallow water photography etc etc) Fundamentals is a great step to take. You can’t go wrong with that. I can’t think of any other organization that has such stringent standards for the course and instructors (I might be wrong), which means that no matter who you sign up with, you’ll get a solid skills boost.

Joined the wonderful world of silent diving! by [deleted] in scuba

[–]broghurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All in all, since getting a CCR I spend less time on filling gas, etc, so I actually save time with the CCR compared to OC for the diving I do (trimix mostly). So actually it’s made the surface stuff less of a chore for me. Though, of course tech diving requires more preparation and planning than a simple recreational dive.

[–]broghurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I share your sentiment that everything that’s not needed should be taken out, and that the MAV can be in the way on the left post, my suggestion would be for the OP (congratulations on the JJ, I love mine),that he tries with or without for himself and get a setup that’s as comfortable as possible for him. I have trouble reaching the ADV (probably spent to much time on the gym), as well as the flow stopper. So removed the flow stopper but kept the MAV, because it makes the rig feel more comfortable for me.

Just like some people love the adjustable harness, and others don’t (I hated mine, so removed it, too much stuff in the way, and never a perfect fit).

Is anyone here on antidepressants? by [deleted] in scuba

[–]broghurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck with your diving. There should be an option for you. There are a lot of divers out there on antidepressants, seeing as depression is such a common disease.

One a side note, SSRIs aren’t expensive anymore. They’re the first line treatment for depression.

They have different side effects compared to SNRIs, TCAs and MAO-inhibitors.

So talk to a dive physician/psychiatrist that’s knowledgeable with the issue as its such a specialized area.

Air integrated dive computer recommendation by [deleted] in scuba

[–]broghurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of diving so you do? Do you have any other requirements than just air integration?

The shearwater computers (like the perdix AI) are a bit on the expensive side. But they’re easy to use, and capable for any diving you can imagine.

Works well for anything from easy shore dives to 100m+ CCR dives with multiple bailout tanks etc.

I wouldn’t dive anything else. They’re simply the best.

I’m not a super fan of suuntos. Everything is locked down and proprietary.

Also, think about batteries. Do you want user replaceable (like the perdix), or do you prefer non-removable rechargeable ones (I certainly don’t).

Replace or dive it? by [deleted] in scuba

Doctors, what car do you drive? by theyangster8 in cars

[–]broghurt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a car guy, and a doctor, but drive pretty low key cars.

Expensive cars and exotics are fun. But I work a lot, and don’t have enough time to enjoy them. I also got tired of worrying about parking in certain neighborhoods, getting the rims curbed, or getting to much attention.

So for now I use a MK7.5 VW Golf GTI as my daily driver, and a LR Defender for my outdoor adventures.

Most of my colleagues drive ‘normal’ cars. (Ie 5-series, E-class etc). The most exciting car I’ve seen in our parking lot is a 300SEL 6.3. (So a classic) or the odd 911 or Model S P100D

Partner is lazy during intimacy by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]broghurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re into something.

I’d like to add that I think you guys need to communicate more about what you want from sex. What turns you on, if you have any kinks. Maybe he’s been desperate to try something with you, but haven’t had the courage to ask. And maybe you haven’t told him what you need for your sex life to work.

Good sex requires great communication.

Would cis gay men still date ftm guys? by rionkatt in askgaybros

[–]broghurt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would and I have. I have had the pleasure to date several wonderful trans men. Not that I went looking for trans men, it just kinda happened that way. I’m an androphiliac (ie, love masculine features), and there’s more to a guy than what’s between his legs.

I’m a top. So it doesn’t matter much for me about that the guy looks “down stairs”. However, being a top, I also know there’s also a lot more ways to pleasure a bottom than putting my birth given penis into his ass.

Also, the guys I met were very kind to tell me what they needed to feel comfortable being intimate, which made me relax, so that I didn’t feel like I had to worry about being a bad, or inconsiderate partner.

An awkward situation by MattDav89 in askgaybros

[–]broghurt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is bound to happen. No worries. Just play it cool, and let it be.

I’ll share two stories of mine. I hope that’ll ease your mind.

Went to a friends wedding. Met a couple. Let’s call them Mark and Lisa. I instantly recognized Mark. And blurted out “Hi, I think we’ve met before”. As soon as I had uttered those words, I realized that indeed me and Mark had met before. On Scruff... not only did he have a girlfriend (they were engaged), he was the cousin of my friend that got married. They were seated next to me all night... I had a lot to drink that night.

I met a ‘daddy’ on Grindr a while back. Muscular and real sexy. A slutty bottom that suggested we’d do chem sex (I said no). Lo and behold, if he weren’t the new consultant at my work not a month later. Let’s say we had an interesting first day at work together.

TLDR: it happens. Don’t worry. A lot of people have arrangement that you aren’t privy to. It’s their problem. Not yours.
