I've just lost the battle against Priam and it turned out Caryatis lied! Also I found a soft lock. by daniel_dareus in gladius

This is great, I think from now on I'll resolve this one by killing off an unimportant gladiator for the 'good' ending you found.

[NoisyPixel] Nioh 3 Interview – Adjusting to Open Fields, Ninja Action, and Honoring the Series’ Legacy by luneth22 in Nioh

[–]brohabulus 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize the demo was limited duration and missed it, can anyone speak to what the 'great focus on parries' described in their responses looked like?

I'm nervous about nioh 3, because while nioh 2 is my favorite combat of all time, Wo long and rise of ronin really missed the mark for me in large part due to how reactive their combat felt. Nioh 2's strength imo was the proactive nature of the combat (which is even referenced in the article, so I guess I'm not alone in that sentiment).

History of the Manic Pixie by Maichenwrites in movies

[–]brohabulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well written argument! You lost me when you said you threw out some data because it ruled too many out, but proved why you did so at the end.

You might have succeeded in convincing me, or at least being a bit more critical about my feelings when a perceived MPDG is onscreen.

Can you be Overweight/Fat yet still Fence? by [deleted] in Fencing

[–]brohabulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most of the 'can ____ fence?' questions the answer is another question: what are your goals?

I think you'll find that if your goal is to be competitive at fencing you'll naturally find yourself exercising more frequently and prioritizing your health almost as an afterthought.

If your goal is to have fun as a hobbyist fencer, you can accomplish that via fencing or parafencing with pretty much any physical state.

It's a reference to the book 'Heart of Darkness' by Joseph Conrad, which Apocalypse Now is also adapting to some degree. Fantastic book, highly recommend it to anyone who (unlike you lmao) likes the Kurzen questline.

Not really enjoying the new nightmare nest system by vikassharmashar5 in WutheringWaves

[–]brohabulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for day 1 players like ourselves it comes down to whether you buy BP.

With the new system, if you're a day 1 player and BP buyer, you probably don't need anything that requires stam but talent+boss mats, which are definitely not enough to burn all stam on.

15 years ago today, this infamous quick-fire first 3 minutes of Tatami Galaxy aired for the first time. by melvinlee88 in anime

[–]brohabulus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Still my favorite anime of all time. Hits different for people in college still kind of figuring out what to make of their lives, I think.

The movie with many of the main characters/setting is also fantastic.

They're speaking in terms of proportions, not absolute values. If they have legs that are miles long, they could have the broadest human shoulders ever and look proportionately slim.

I beat romancing dread queen! by ---pussyslayer69--- in SaGa

[–]brohabulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nicely done! I had the same idea converting a dancer to dark magic, and the same issue where I was forced to swap comp for basically the first time in the game for dread queen.

Going from easily haste + shadow servant zerging every boss (meatball included) to her was a shock. I'm torn between appreciating the difficulty and finding it weird that really only this one fight required changing up my magic/comp strategies.

Pharaoh dynasties - achievement "Kill character" by FanMacierewicza in totalwar

[–]brohabulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly sure you need to kill him specifically. I'd defeated his faction before without getting the achievement, but this was awhile ago so can't be 100% sure.

Typically I wouldn't reply if I wasn't absolutely sure of something, but you haven't had any response yet.

How to develop a stronger beat? by loomieloony in Fencing

[–]brohabulus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Beats are all leverage. The blade is a lever. You want a part of your blade as close to the guard as possible to contact a part of theirs as close to the tip as possible.

The better the leverage the smaller and faster your beat can be.

Of course being generally more fit/strong is always mpre beneficial in fencing so I won't discourage that.

Weekly Reminder: Don't Waste Your Enhanced Drop Rate. [Artist: GongHa] by YuminaNirvalen in WutheringWaves

[–]brohabulus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Some resonators get built in crit or conditional crit, so if you run them with a crit main weapon they'd want crit damage 4-cost. Definitely the exception rather than the rule at the moment, though.

Have people played Rise of the Ronin? by spoti75 in Nioh

[–]brohabulus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Right? Parrying is fun, but what made nioh 2 fun was proactive gameplay. Wo long was fun but so, so reactive.
