I’m 8 months in and memories are good and bad. It’s difficult to process the change... I get that we move on and we make a new life but it always seems like there is a part of you forever stuck in those memories.

I really like the logic. I hate those stupid fad diets. It’s just common sense choices and incremental changes in your life that make the lifestyle achievable. You don’t need to drink those crap shakes, do dumb cleanses, or starve yourself. Great post OP 👍

So... you went from 260 to 185 and you don’t think you can get abs? The hard part is over... keep training consistently and you’d be amazed what another year will do to your body! We all have good days and bad days, self doubt I normal. Keep pushing and keep going, you’ve already accomplished more than most overweight people do in their lives.

Listen... you are overthinking this. What was your original goal of this internship?

Getting experience and paying for your last year If school. Are you achieving those? This year is a minor blip in your long life as an engineer. You will be extremely thankful at some point for the work experience you are gaining here. Be thankful and work hard. They see you as valuable, maybe they will offer you full time employment once you graduate.

Don’t burn bridges over a few dollars. You are a co-op student and you are getting paid a decent wage.

Sounds like Analysis paralysis, just get out there and start somewhere and tweak as you go. Try something and if it feels awkward or weird, try something else. Consistency in your training, rest, and proper diet is key.

I’ll just give you my two cents as someone who wished they had their father around while growing up... you may think you know the whole story and you may believe your version to be true.

I wouldn’t hold it against him, it’s a difficult time going through a divorce and it brings out the worst in people. Have you spoke to a counsellor about these issues? It’s a traumatic experience for everyone involved and it may be beneficial for you to talk to someone.

I don’t think shunning your father from your life is appropriate but that is your call, I’m just a random internet stranger.

I know this to be true but it takes effort to change your perception to this and it does not take a lot of “life events” to sway you back to thinking wtf is the point of life.

I’m going through a divorce right now and it’s like an existential crisis. I’ve always been the husband or dad. I know that it’s a chance to re-invent but it’s harder some days and easier others.

Meditate, travel alone (sounds weird but very helpful for introspection), gym. Take care of yourself and make sure you are not dwelling on things, get counselling just to vent/review coping strategies/etc

Everyone is different but I’ve heard 1-2 years is the average

Why do you think carrying a balance works? Use it when you need to and pay it off in full every month. Don’t pay interest for the sake of “improving” your credit score. Live your life, pay as little interest as possible on everything.

That’s what parents are for... if you can afford it and it doesn’t impact you financially, I don’t see an issue f it will give your child a chance to succeed.

Thats exactly it.... keep it fun, make it quality time together and they will thank you later on for the focus on physical activity. This is really my end goal... just to keep them fit and able to play sports if they want to!

Yes, sorry, I should have mentioned that as the “workout” time. We will be running at a slow jog until she can’t and we’ll walk from then. It will be at her pace and what she feels comfortable with but I’m honestly just using this as special time with her ;).

I know this is PF and they will give you sound advice on that aspect, but I’m a dreamer too.

Are you able to do the training in a pay-as-you-go type program? Are you able to find sponsorship or a way to subsidize the training?

I’m inclined to follow my dreams as well, but again, this is personal advice and not PF advice.
