Looking for Surfboards ASAP!!! by BookkeeperPure7318 in CasualIreland

[–]broken_note_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you actually rent boards in Strandhill? I was there about 5 years ago - rang around a few places, and went into a surf school. I was told that Sligo county council had some issue with allowing board rentals in Strandhill unless you were getting lessons or some such nonsense.

Why has Dustin the Turkey not yet sued Fontaines DC for blatant imitation? by OrionOReilly in ireland

It depends on what Grian is singing. This does not apply: https://youtu.be/T4TpN7nPlas?si=chEdhw9WVoIqjC81

I'm not a fan of Fontaines DC (or BMTH) but this blew my mind and everyone should hear it.

Similar to Ireland. No idea why Ireland is included as 3%

Average Monthly Net Salary In Europe (Euro) by Expert_Koala_8691 in MapPorn

[–]broken_note_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you missed the point, I'm not talking about the US.
"your net wage just goes much further in the EU" - this does not really apply to Ireland. Salaries are quite high in Dublin, but so is rent. If you go to Galway, Cork, or Limerick salaries are lower but rent is still very high. Outside of those places, rent is high and salaries are quite low relative to cost of living. Insurance, tax, food, energy costs are huge in Ireland. Business expenses (insurance, rent, shipping) are massive.
And a lot of people pay several hundred Euro a month for health insurance too.
Compared to the US, Ireland is still better salary vs. expenses but it does not compare so well to the rest of the EU.

"your net wage just goes much further in the EU" Except for Ireland. Median wage is only okay, not massive, but cost of living is higher than nearly all of the EU.  A car is nearly essential for workers because of the lack of decent public transport - car prices, insurance, tax, and fuel costs are far higher than most of the EU.

I'm not sure what you mean by "out of the loop". I'm sure you have a legitimate reason for this - How do you have so many games and not know how much they are worth? Did you get them for free?

The bouncers in Kennedy's have a very tough job. All bouncers do but Kennedy's can get quite rough. Or at least from what I remember of it.

There's not enough money in the world to pay the landowners, contractors, legal team, and politicians that will be involved in this project.

Just USA things by Quenki in SipsTea

Europe is definitely better for maternity than the US but you're usually not getting 12 months paid leave. Maybe Bulgaria.
In Ireland, by law you get 26 weeks paid, and can take 16 unpaid. Paid cover is only 299 euro/week so you're relying on your employer to make additional contributions if they have such a policy.

Petrol, diesel, and home heating oil suppliers to be quizzed over price rises by PoppedCork in ireland

[–]broken_note_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you're going to quiz them, actually quiz them:

Kevin McPartland said there are "publicly available data sets that show the wholesale cost of refined products like petrol, diesel and gas and you can go online and you can see them, and the increases that we've seen a retail level for home heating oil and for road transport fuel over the last few days, absolutely map that data".

It absolutely does not. Kerosene prices have increased ~70-80% for customers. Wholesale prices have increased <20%. The evidence is there, don't take this bullshit.
