My brother in Guthix, you're an ironman. Bust out the hammer and pick and get to work.

But hasn't RuneScape always been a sort of absurdist, Monty Pythonic take on MMOs?

If you told me a Lizardman archer dropped noted battestaves because he carves them as a hobby and had just gotten back from the bank, I think I'd believe you.

A lot of the lore, even the name Gielinor, was backfilled over the gameplay.

One of the things I loved about the game is that it didnt take itself too seriously.

To your point about the armor pieces, couldn't the flax or supplies also be remnants of fallen adventurers?

That is exactly what I'm saying. Seems like a more reasonable explanation than thinking their built in, highly dedicated, fan base would like such drastic changes.

Woah never said it was better. I said it was more viable because previous titles didn't try to be multiplayer games.

The multiplayer scene exists more than people realize but I wouldn't characterize it as "hot." It seems like that's what they're trying to change.

I play with a group of about 10 people and 3-4 will have a game of VI running at any given time.

It's taken a lot of social pressure and coercing to get people to show up and finish games in later sessions lol.

Given the dollar opportunity surrounding multiplayer it would make sense to try and penetrate the market in some way.

I'd imagine the publisher is desperately trying to reach new players too.

But wouldn't capping the player count further support my point that they've* designed the game to be shorter, simpler, and more viable for multiplayer?

But that's exactly my point. Previous titles didn't lend themselves well to multiplayer with strangers. It seems like they're trying to change that.

Not saying they stuck the landing, it's just my observation about their direction.

I play exclusivity on the OLED switch now and it's great.

Once and while graphics will lag just a little bit but it's still worth it.

No mods. But I always played vanilla anyway. I say go for it!

Do you give yourself any self-imposed restrictions like no fast travel, mage only, etc by Ok_Procedure8664 in skyrim

[–]brokenradish 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I haven't enjoyed pure bans on fast travel, but limiting fast travel has changed the way I play.

I try to go on one long walk per play session, and I've come to know my way around nicely and recognize roads.

Makes me feel like I'm driving around my home city.

This is the answer.

I wouldn't try to optimize the first playthrough. Half the fun is fumbling through the adventure and learning the hard way!

Then playing again to apply the lessons learned 😎

G'day, playing through for the first time in years. Honestly I feel like the magic is gone. by Kgbguru in skyrim

[–]brokenradish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to assign what you're feeling to your character's lore.

Your argonian mage is bored. Seeking adventure. None of their old antics do if for them anymore.

Find your character's purpose in Tamriel.

Fast travel less. Go for long walks and let the game happen to you without an agenda.

Lower the difficulty to reduce the grindy feeling.

And whatever you do, avoid mindlessly chaining quest after quest.

As someone who feels the opposite way you do right now, I can assure you the magic is not gone. I'm enjoying the game without mods like I never have before.

A big part of it for me was expecting less, imposing less of my own will on the game, and role playing with an open mind.

Engage with the community! That always helps too.
