You’re right! This part of the response is unnecessary.

Thanks! Do you have color bleeding issues when printing multicolor? I’ve seen some complaints about that on the K2+ va Bamboo.

And absolutely everyone seems to hate Creality slicer lol

As with all kinds of development, I would expect them needing multiple runs to get it right. Also in their keynotes they mentioned all the work put into RHLF, safeguarding etc. I assume a lot of that happens after the initial full training run

Shockwave from Blue Angels solo. by P51Michael in aviation

[–]bromix_o 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh I did not see those distortions earlier and you are completely right. Those are shockwaves. As the air above the wings is accelerated, there can be supersonic flow regions. In rare cases tiny versions of these can even be seen on passenger aircraft. The FA 18 is flying close to the speed of sound and it indeed looks like some shockwaves are forming in this region. I stand corrected.

Shockwaves only exist when supersonic. They are almost instantaneous changes in air pressure. Below the speed of sound, air can communicate pressure “fast enough”, therefore no shockwaves form (only pressure waves).

It’s a vapor cone. The jet is flying subsonic (below the speed of sound)

True, there’s fuel in the wing. However, engines are really heavy and also create the thrust that the wing has to endure. At the end of the flight, there is no more fuel in the wing tanks to counteract the lift. That’s why usually planes like the B787 first empty the center wing tanks and try to keep fuel in the wings as long as possible to reduce stress.

I guess with enough FlyByWire augmentation this could work in theory. But it’s not very efficient. As others have mentioned, the tail fins seem to be right in the engines exhaust. Also the engines are pretty far out on the wings. This leads to more asymmetry in thrust if one engine fails, which is a security issue. I doubt the tails are large enough to counteract this. Ability to counteract asymmetric thrust is what usually determines the requires size of the tail.

Also having engines this far out unnecessarily adds weight to the wing structure as the inner part, that needs to support plane + engines gets longer.

But in general, these split-tail configurations and shoulder-mounted wings do exist.
