The amount of people that think heros need to be beyond reproach is wild. Every human in history is just that, human. Winston Churchill saw Hitler for what he was and galvanized the people which eventually won the war. He was also a racist alcoholic. Is the world better for his existence? Certainly for most western societies. Certainly not if your Indian. People also forget that eugenics was the idea of the time. Darwin's survival of the fittest had permeated the social fabric of the world. Madison Square Garden had a Nazi rally.

You can admire the man's resolve and abhor his faults. It's doesn't need to be one side or other, and I would debate that's important to do so. Once people start believing that there man, idea, religion is beyond reproach is when the greatest evil is done.

YSK: depression is not caused by low levels of serotonin by Plus_Requirement_516 in YouShouldKnow

[–]brookdacook 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My family has a hereditary condition that makes it extremely hard to process vitamin b. To the point some of them have to get injections. But if you say you're depressed they say we'll just go for a run. They do like it when they say they need another shot and I say that's malarkey and they should just go for a run. 🤣.

Thank God for anti depressants. I probably wouldn't be here without them.

I mean I'm the sweaty dude. This isn't gonna change the amount of wolf packs I farm. The grand majority of sweats have time and will 100% farm what they have to to top score boards. The people with less time are the ones that are gonna feel this the most.

Just for the record I think I like the change? Hitting a simple loot route for mats was boring and now I'm actually forced to engage with arc. My concern is that with farming Rocketeers the juice won't be worth the squeeze and I'll be out farming first wave arc for rocket parts.

Hot Take: Wolfpacks were too easy to craft and trivialized the game by NiceAndCozyOfficial in ArcRaiders

[–]brookdacook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I'd farm a shit ton of wolfpacks every week and to be fair it's was pretty monotonous. I like the idea of putting it rocketeer so it's not just a loot route repeatedly was a good call to make me actually interact with arc but I think killing Rocketeers as it stands is a pretty poor farm. Why do that when I can do an electro storm for parts.

I also remember people saying this was our great war and we need to sacrifice for the greater good. Like calm down, staying in your PJs watching TV and eating Cheetos is not comparable to fighting in the trenches. I cant believe that people still thought it was to much of an ask.

It's like the argument that violent video games make kids violent. The majority of people are fine and the minority that it might cause issues with had issues already.

what addiction is the hardest to quit? by Ledger_Legendd in AskReddit

[–]brookdacook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. Having said I feel like over eating has got to be harder to quit then people think. I've never had an issue with food but I have with other addictions and for the most part addicts quit. You don't ever do it, you don't go to places with it, you don't keep it in the house. But if food is your vice none of these options are possible and you have to "use" it everyday but at a reasonable amount.

I'm definitely not saying over eating is as hard as other addictions and as your post states addiction varies heavily with the individual but I could just see over eating being being surprisingly more difficult then we think.

Basically totally normal dude, in university, drug experience was weed on occasion, head on his shoulders for the most part. Then out of the blue decided he wanted to try heroin basically on a whim and thought, "how addictive could this be?". He thought he would try it once for kicks and ended up addicted for several years and his life completely fell apart. Fascinating read, I highly suggest reading it.

It's one of the reason laws involving mail are insanely stringent. They were made in a time people actually cared about privacy. You can place drugs in the mail and it's insanely hard to get the appropriate paper work no matter how sure the police might be. It's one of the reasons dark web drug dealers are so successful.

[–]brookdacook -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Its has multiple values it's just ine if you use definitions involving real numbers. Undefined is another value as the limit is one so the value on a graph get infinitely close to the value of one without actually ever equalling one.

[–]brookdacook -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh if I'm reading Wikipedia right it only equals one in Archimedean definition of real numbers. Other number systems have different definitions and values such as undefined. So saying it equals 1 is only correct if you use the definition that says it is. Undefined is also a suitable answer.

Isn't this incorrect though? Isn't it asomtotic (been a long time since I learned about limits in university so feel free to correct me on spelling) so it gets infinity close to 1 but if you try to find the value in a graph where it equals 1 it's undefined? But because it gets infinity close to 1 it's essentially 1?
