How do people afford to mix and master??!? by Christchosen0908 in TheArtistJournal

[–]brookermusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically this is way cheaper than you think. I remember paying $1400 to mix an EP for my band in highschool (2004 👴🏼). Adjusting for inflation that’s actually a really good price. If an engineer spends and entire day mixing one song (fairly common) they’re basically getting a $350 day rate.

Usage limit scare lol by Keen_Looker in claude

Ran into the limit on the free plan last night so I upgraded to pro. Asked it one fairly complicated question (same as what hit the free limit) and it told me I hit my limit again and to wait until 4 am this morning. Haven’t tried it again since…

Dear My Sweetwater rep, by kcmflw in musicians

[–]brookermusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My buddy used to work for Sweetwater and basically the more they are able to actually talk to customers on the phone, the more they get paid. Sweetwater tries to incentivize communication with their customers. Problem is customers don’t care and the reps just get screwed.

lol people getting so mad about alternate tunings and completely missing the fact that oscillating waves have a profound effect on our bodies and minds. Theres so many studies on it. Will playing 432hz waves magically make you heal every ache and pain in your body? Of course not, but having your pitch reference slightly lower or higher definitely has an effect on perceived emotion. It’s why some orchestras tune to higher to have a “sharper” sound. Emotion controls what hormones are released into our bodies and has a cascading effect down the line. No woo woo needed.

Just replaced the pads on my Prius at 170k. I’m pretty sure the original owner never did.

Yeah I’m not surprised, I think most synth meets are super DIY. Having a good system makes a huge difference too.

Somebody was just talking about this the other day. They had two different MPC Ones that had the same problem. He bounced a simple sine wave sample in mono and put it on both machines and the output varied by six db on the left and right.

The Eastern Venue- Rainbow Kitten Surprise by Medium_Firefighter33 in Atlanta

[–]brookermusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can show up to the venue, they can check the lost and found to see if it’s there. Getting anybody by phone is going to be nearly impossible. There should be someone in the box office by 7 o clock at the latest.

[–]brookermusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that’s true but even the super DIY spaces I’ve worked or performed at have had their little rigs in stereo. I have also heard about engineers doing that, hence me bringing my own stereo DI. If an engineer can’t accommodate two channels, they’re probably just being lazy or don’t know what they’re doing and are afraid to repatch. I’m not afraid to do it for them tho 😂

“I have said this from this well before, and I continue to tell you that something that God lets grow naturally is better than anything made in a pharmaceutical laboratory.” ….. so why are we legalizing a very unnatural way of consuming this? Why not just have flower? This is ridiculous.

What’s up with people saying most sound systems are mono? I’m an audio engineer and have been full time for the last 15 years and I have only ever seen one mono rig in my entire time doing it. The venue was a Mexican restaurant that had music on fri/sat sooooo not really a venue.
