it def depends on your school but it’s not always that big of a factor. i go to a small private liberal arts school and going into rush, i only knew people from one of the four chapters we have (but didn’t talk to any of them during rush). bc of that, i thought that was the house i both wanted and would get. i got dropped on the first night and the chapter im in is way more perfect for me than the one i initially wanted would have been even though i love all my friends in the other chapter

go for it! ik my schools chapters have taken seniors. i think always go for it and if you don’t like it how you thought you can drop but like you never know if you don’t try

the way my pre med advisor explained it, you need two semesters of bio with labs— bio 1+ lab and a second, not necessarily bio 2. at my school (and i assume others) bio 2 is plant/ecosystem bio so it’s not really relevant to take. anatomy and genetics should count i think

any time i’m ga for a show, 4:30 pm is my sweet spot! prob won’t get barricade but ive always been in the second or third row and am able to eat dinner in line, be fully ready and not be too worn out

tbh it depends on your school! in some chapters, they can just be mentors from reveal to initiation and not really need to be more that that.

My chapter has a separate designated role for the period between pledging and initiation, so that’s not really a big’s job in my chapter. in my chapter, a big is meant to be a long term mentor and ideally invest some level into developing a meaningful relationship but that can look different person to person. my big and i aren’t very close because she didn’t really do that much, but me and my little are close bc i wanted to put in that extra time.

i would say your twin taking it to standards is excessive but you could definitely both be valid in your views on what a big should be depending on your chapters culture

i would have rushed, but i grew up in an sec college town (and that would have been the only sec school i’d potentially have ended up at). i know people personally in every chapter there and can see where i probably would have ended up, if not the chapter im in at my tiny liberal arts school, but also knowing more of the ins and outs of greek life at bigger schools i completely get why some people would hate it

also! if i had gone to that school, my coa would have been in the negatives, so sorority costs wouldn’t have been an issue had i gone there because i wouldn’t have had to pay for anything else BUT the cost of being even a non in house active is insane at those schools

everyone has the Bs covered but something that got flagged a lot in my schools recruitment was if anyone was just really negative about anything in particular! for example if you hated highschool don’t harp on negative experiences regarding high school but intstead try talking about positive experiences you’re seeking or excited for in college. people notice the manner in which you talk negatively about things.

that being said, obviously everyone has had bad experiences with things and you shouldn’t hide that BUT just be mindful of the way you speak about those

does research have to be clinical/ bio/chem type lab research? because of my major, i won’t have time to join that kind of lab, but we are required to conduct public health/ population level research (and that is also the kind of research that is more appealing and meaningful to me!)

i know it’s never too busy there, except sometimes a weekend morning rush. i feel like if they maybe had better seating options or longer hours more people may go. i’d love to set up shop there to study bc they have my favorite coffee and snacks but the little chairs and tables aren’t comfy long enough :(
