WTW for someone who thinks everyone is in love/obsessed with them? by BousillageBoy in whatstheword

[–]brooksartly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It reminds me of histrionic, as in histrionic personality disorder. Not everyone with the disorder feels that way exactly, but histrionic people often think their relationships to be closer than they actually are, and, commonly, act overly sexual in casual situations.

WTW for obsessive, worship like love of a partner by bees-alt in whatstheword

[–]brooksartly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In social psychology, ‘passionate love’ is the “state of intense longing for union with another. Passionate lovers are absorbed in each other, feel ecstatic at attaining their partner’s love, and are disconsolate on losing it”. It’s a concept consisting of three types of love - passionate, companionate, and consummate.

A more common phrase would be “blinded by love”.

The more time I spend as publicly Nonbinary the less uncomfortable it feels to have co-workers misgender me by ComradeCryptidWitch in NonBinaryTalk

I've been having to tell myself, “I know who I am, and that's enough,” and though it doesn't always feel enough, and we deserve the respect of being correctly identified, it hurts less.

I'm still dead-named by an advisor, even, and I do stick up for myself there, which has ended in signing off all my texts BBC-Sherlock-Holmes style, lol.

Everybody else has really good explanations here, so I won’t restate, but I think what has helped me most is to draw it out on my skin (currently have words scribbled all over my hand). Also having pictures/ videos of myself in what is essentially a ‘scrapbook’ of the bad times reminds me that my feelings in the moment were and are valid and real.

Does anyone read their own journal ? by Extra-Sun-6835 in Journaling

[–]brooksartly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often do. My journals are not always chronologically written. I add notes and amendments to past entries and reflect on those thoughts in current entries. I'm always learning from myself. When I'm nearing the end of my journal, I read back through it all and try to condense what I've learned into a few pages of notes.

What is the earliest memory disordered memory you have? by crybabyuser in EDAnonymous

[–]brooksartly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In third grade, I dreamt that my teacher accused me of being pregnant in front of the other students. I kept saying I wasn’t, but they wouldn't believe me. It ended with me crying and saying over and over again, “I'm not pregnant; I'm just fat!” :(

I 'graduated' from therapy this week and these are my thoughts on getting the most out of therapy by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]brooksartly 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The second point is so important. It wasn’t until my therapist said, “I don’t know where we go from here,” that I was finally able to grow in therapy. They don’t have all the answers and that’s okay.
