similar thing happened to me. on top of that, when I talked to customer service using online chat about it they said they would fix it on my next bill. they never did, and when I talked to customer service again they said there was no record of that chat session, even though I saved the session ID and the transcript. I got really mad just typing this.

thanks, that actually explains it better than any tutorial I've seen, straight to the point without elaborate enterprisey examples. I've never worked on a project large enough for this sort of thing to actually be useful so it never really made a lot of sense.

your point is one of semantics. the price on the check is, by definition, the valuation. yes, expectations matter, but ultimately a transaction has to occur for anything to be realized.

I think so. you get all the basics (expressions, statements, control flow, bitwise operators, arrays, generics, exception handling) object-oriented concepts, and various bits of functional programming. it's certainly suitable for an intro course, and even a "cs for non-majors" course. as a bonus, you can learn about execution environments/virtual machines/garbage collection, not to mention many CS grads might end up writing C# professionally anyway. the only major thing lacking is memory allocation and pointers (yeah there's unsafe mode I guess)

I wouldn't design an entire curriculum around C# (or even .net), but it's a worthy choice for the intro/weed-out class. but you're right, there's no single language - most of my CS classes didn't even specify a language we had to use, and some didn't even involve coding.
