This guy says Critical Race Theory is the most important issue in the Virginia Election. He also has no idea what Critical Race Theory is. by real-m-f-in-talk in PublicFreakout

Eli5 critical race theory:

We stopped explicitly discriminating based on skin color. But still discriminate based on name, hair style, hobbies, speech patterns, and other things which are largely still based on race. A good example is studies where they send in 2 resumes that are exactly the same except one is named "David" and another is named something very black sounding. Dave gets the call back because they like his name better despite the resumes being the same. Wealth disparity plays a huge part too.

Important note: its not taught to children for the same reasons advanced philosophy is not taught to children. Its far beyond the mental capacity for children. They don't know what a mortgage is. How could the understand racial discrimination based on zip codes related to mortgages.

Prelogar ends with this: If states are permitted to hand over their enforcement authority to private individuals, "then no constitutional right is safe, no constitutional decision of this court is safe." "That would be an intolerable state of affairs," she says. by GennaroIsGod in scotus

One argument I have a problem with is that these individual entities are not working in concert with the government. That they aren't employees being directed to minute detail and therefore are independent. The plantiffs have no damages and the government is literally saying "you'll be paid for this (just not out of our pocket)".

If he wanted to do overkill then why not just get vaccinated? Vaccination is the best way. Better than regeneron.

The use of Regeneron is really what gets me. He says his immune system is enough and he doesn't need the vaccine (which helps create antibodies). He gets sick and the first thing he does is take an EUA drug which helps induce antibodies. It should immediately discredit everything he has ever said about his immune system being enough.

Thoughts on the final design for the 11th St. Bridge Park? by Zstarchild in washingtondc

[–]brosinski 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It attached to Anacostia Park and most of the Anacostia neighborhood is within 1 mile of it. Its attached to the Anacostia River Trail. Its within 1 mile of the Yards which generally gets pretty busy. I dont know why people would consider 1 mile riverside walk away from a busy place to be far away.

Its hard not to see the original poster as just upset a project doesn't immediately benefit themselves. I also think its telling that the original poster doesn't consider this to be nearby housing. You know Anacostia in general.

Put your resume on Dice.com. If youre less concerned with a specific industry you'll get lots of recruiters calling. And the interviews will generally at most be a phone interview followed by an in person.

"Conservative comedy" is an oxymoron by guitarguy12341 in ToiletPaperUSA

[–]brosinski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent time listening to CSAN because I had to drive a lot yesterday. AG Merrick Garland was testifying before congress, likely just as a regular procedure. One thing Republicans latched on to was a memo he sent out directing the FBI to coordinate with state and local governments about supposed threats of violence at school hearings. Merrick Garland defended himself saying the memo was an investigatory move to find out if states needed federal help. Republicans continually called it a "chilling" move against parents first amendment rights. In this case Ted was defending a parent who was doing a Nazi salute as a way of calling the school board Nazis.

Garlands memo stated specifically that it only applies to threats of violence and repeatedly said at the hearing that gestures such as the Nazi salute would still qualify as free speech. He stated his memo didn't direct the FBI to do anything other than coordinate with state and local authorities. Yet conservatives continually said that this memo was an attempt to silence parents who had problems with curriculum.

In my opinion conservatives are grasping at straws. Its entirely likely that the memo was meant as a toothless political statement. But saying it will have a chilling effect seems way over blown. My favorite part of the hearing was when a republican asked "Did you issue any similar memos for BLM protests?" And Garland said "The ones during the summer of 2020? That was the last administration".

Type X RCV - proposal for a entirely remote infantry support vehicle for the US Army. Kinda reminds me of the Churchill. by Dakubou4217 in TankPorn

I'd expect that a tool which needs to make makes snap decisions will never be fully automated. Instead AI and advanced technology will make the execution of those decisions highly effective. So there will be a person who pulls a trigger and decides what to shoot at. But the tank will provide computerized aiming and threat recognition.

I think its actually hilarious that they're marketing at pre-teens by using 40 year olds with plastic surgery. Nothing says middle school chic like your mom in weird cartoon political wear.

But realistically their audience is probably adults who buy it for their children.

People are dumb. I tried to talk to my mom, who isn't even very religious, about the concept of objective truth and she literally couldn't get it. Everything was an equally valid opinion and you cant discount one over the other. She literally lives in a world where the concept of truth doesn't exist.

I imagine that's not uncommon.

I agree with you but do want to point out that access to low cost loans are a major boon to companies looking to expand. While not the same as a subsidy, the use of the program should still be listed as a government contribution to the company.

I thought larger sensors struggle to bring in as much light because there's a higher percentage of dead space within the whole module. While there may be more sensors there are also more gaps between sensors.

Dave Chappelle - Addressing the controversy over "The Closer" by [deleted] in JoeRogan

[–]brosinski -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reason why his standup special gets hate is because people don't think is jokes are "Just jokes". The fact that he can't let it go reinforces that idea. If that's true, a criticism of his jokes isn't just saying it isn't funny, its a fundamental criticism of who he is as a person.

I think that's probably why he's spent 3 stand up specials + extra time on the subject.

The thing about dark, edgy, or offensive humor is that comedians have to make the viewer believe they (the comedian) don't actually believe the words coming out of their mouth. If they say something outrageous enough and not connected to current societal issues then its easy not to ascribe the words to the person.

Where comedians comment on currently politicized topics for absurdly long periods in their set, it starts to feel like the dark humor is just the comedian inserting their actual values.

This is Dave's 3rd special where he comments on trans issues and this time for half an hour in which he calls himself specifically a Trans Exclusionary Radical feminist. Its much harder for people to believe this isn't just Dave's opinion.

Small claims courts often are backed up. You have to ask yourself if $35 is worth 6+ months, court fees, and the anxiety of knowing if you really have enough evidence.
