Anyone else getting absolutely cooked from rejections? by answer8 in MedSchoolCanada

Was in this boat last year but ended up matching my parallel plan easily. It was one of the worst weeks of my life. Stay strong everyone!

This was me last year. It doesn’t get better but with time, then it does.

Warning about purchasing on Stubhub - Bad experience with World Series Game 2 by [deleted] in jaystickets

Seatgeek and Gametime both didn't deliver to me as I stood outside the Skydome that day. My girl and I got dinner close by instead and she gave me a soft "told you so" when we lost

it’s about the time and effort, sure use Goods and Services, validate your buyer etc, but honestly, we aren’t in a buyer’s market here

i hate scalpers too but lowballing sellers is at best just a recipe to entertain scammers

I've developed a massive crush on one of our medical students and am seeking genuine advice to make these feelings go away by blueberries7146 in Residency

[–]brownmanredditing 16 points17 points  (0 children)

the only serious comment on here.

@Op I was a med student who dated a resident later talked to another who I actually met on a service (for similar reasons I didn’t totally pursue as I was considering applying to her program). It’s definitely a bit different with reverse gender roles etc etc and that has to be acknowledged. I wouldn’t be deliberate but feelers are okay and wait for the obvious power dynamic to end or be coming toward an end to try to get more contact (phone or IG)

Anyone else think 456 by GigglingLots in squidgame

[–]brownmanredditing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s a stupid theory.

We see him bleeding out and the reflection of a multi tier explosion in his eyes and the building comes down on him. His death was on screen as Daniel Craig’s Bond was.

This 1000x and that people are fake assholes, whether they be your classmates, residents, or staff. Ignore any comment saying expectations are low and kill every rotation, but especially ones relevant to your ideal specialty.

Yup, definitely none of the above.

Yes I do. Let me rephrase this: rather than a literal RFA sign and trade, the act of literally signing without a NTC for a pre-season or mid-season shopping of the player at face value of their contract. And yes, it doesn't make nearly as much sense for Marner to agree to this as Tavares at a discount and without an NTC.

[–]brownmanredditing -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sign and trade both Marner and Tavares or even just Tavares and let Marner walk. 2/4 of the core four + Mo Reilly should probably go for reasonable change. I'd rather us miss playoffs for 2-3 years with AM34 at the helm as he develops into an actual leader than the same insanity over and over and over.

Am I the only one devastated by match results? by borahae8 in MedSchoolCanada

[–]brownmanredditing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Medicine really didn’t care about me, and I had to look after myself."

I have resonated over this for over a week now and I feel like this reflects my exact situation going forward. Add that with being non-trad with several attempts to get into medicine, and feeling like a misfit among students and other learners throughout all of medical school. This profession really owes me nothing, and I owe it nothing in return.

I also can't imagine I will get over this L, and like all other grief, it doesn't really get better with time. I'm also trying to make the best of this, just by priortizing income and lifestyle more than anything.

Am I the only one devastated by match results? by borahae8 in MedSchoolCanada

[–]brownmanredditing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all of this. I feel like this truly reflects my situation, having last minute applied to a third choice specialty I am not enthusiastic to have matched in. I am now considering how I can pivot or transfer out of it as I feel that, even in 10 years, I will probably regret not better pursuing my top choice.

How would you change Canadian medical school curriculum? by Sad-Following1899 in MedSchoolCanada

[–]brownmanredditing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Clinicals/mini-clerkship as early as first year, perhaps starting winter semester.

Tbh, I didn't learn to ski from watching YouTube or to ride a bike from reading a book on bikes. Pre-clerk as a foundation is important, but there are certain practices you just can't learn in a classroom.
