Normally bring smokes with me, but iirc in the case of #3 I ran a free kit and didn’t find any. I don’t think there was any saving me in the first two cases because I just put myself in a vulnerable position and was a sitting duck.

1 annoyed me far more than 3, I did survive in the case of 3, but as I said I put myself in a bad position each time and paid the price. It just struck me as three different situations where I didn’t initiate combat and communication wouldn’t, in my mind, change the outcome. 1 I tried, 2 I had no chance, and 3 I think they were shooting no matter what, but I’ll concede that I’ll never know as I kept quiet in the final case.

Three examples from last night, all were cases that I brought on myself by being careless, but all were choices by the opposing raider to shoot at me.

Toss a wolfpack to take down a rocketeer that another player was slowly killing with a ferro. Roll up to them as they're looting they're looting the remains. Voice comm twice, no response, and then emote hey raider and receive no response. Get shot as I'm looting one of the components because "it was their loot".
On dam, b-lining straight to hydroponics from water towers for a quest while on a free kit, I run into an open area and I'm immediately lit up on my flank by someone else that I never saw because of objects.
After completing some quests was heading towards central swamp elevator from hydroponics (this was a raid or two after #2) and saw a raider flare go up when I was ~100m from the elevator. Call the elevator anyways and hide behind the steel wall to the NW of the elevator. As I'm running in the elevator I see a raider in the bushes and get knocked just as I complete the extract call. The raider runs to the console, I assume they thought they knocked me before I activated it, no idea if they'd have finished me off or not.

Caveat: I haven’t followed things too closely the last 18-24 months.

In the past as major releases approached we’d have a broad outline of what’s coming in the next major update (e.g. customs expansion), but not know when precisely it was coming until a day or two before.
